A Message From The Head Welcome to the Spring edition of the Waseley newsletter.

Inside this issue:

As you can see, it has been another term packed full of action, from fundraising and educational activities to a variety of creative projects including the launch of our own Waseley Radio.

It is wonderful to see that whilst students and teachers are fully committed to academic learning, they also find the time and energy to raise money for charitable causes and be keenly involved in community events. I hope that all families enjoy a peaceful and relaxing Easter break.

At the beginning of January, we were approached by Emma Green, the granddaughter of Betty Levick a former pupil of Waseley Hills. “I am not sure if you can help at all but it will be my Nan’s 100th birthday on 22nd January 2019. I am trying to make her celebration extra special by gathering as many birthday wishes as I can for her.

I knew that she grew up in Birmingham but only learnt before Christmas that she lived in Rubery and attended Waseley Hills. I even found out that she was Head Girl and Netball Team Captain. I don’t expect that you would have any old records as we are REALLY going back here! “ We dug through the archives where we found some pictures of the original school and its former pupils from the ‘30s, including a picture of one of the netball teams from that era.

We put these together in a 100th birthday card and sent it to Betty. Incredibly, when she received the card, Betty recognised herself in a couple of the photos including this one of herself as captain of the netball team!
