For 90% of pupils to reach their EOY targets in Reading, Writing and Maths. To improve the attainment in SPAG at the end of KS2 The reading age of targeted pupils in KS2 will at least match their chronological age. The attainment in reading at the end of KS2 will be at least 90%. Pupils will be fluent in age appropriate arithmetic skills including times tables.

Success Criteria
Review basic components of effective teaching and how these link to teaching standards. Termly staff meetings to explore different aspects of Rosenshine’s Principles. Appraisal target to focus on one area of the Rosenshine Principle. NM & YM to attend webinar on Whole-Class Reading. SLT meetings held to discuss adaptations to Valley’s timetable Introduce a phased introduction to WCR starting with one day per week leading to four days a week by July 2024. Staff training on Whole-Class Reading during January INSET.

All staff will be confident in the adaptive teaching approach and this will be delivered consistently across the school.

Subject Leads to explore trip / visitor possibilities for the themes studied within their subject. Details added to MTP. Class Teachers to look at what trips and visitors can be arranged to support learning on a termly basis. Under the Curriculum Driver of Ambition & Aspiration, staff to think about which professionals can be invited in to talk about their careers to support learning in different subjects. Early Years staff to factor in to planning how the local area can be used to enhance learning.

All pupils within Key Stage 2 will have sufficient stamina to read a challenging ageappropriate text within a set time. Key Stage 2 attainment in Reading will be above 90% Curriculum learning will have been enhanced through relevant trips, visits and visitors.
Using the threshold concepts, emphasise the core knowledge to be assessed. Ensure the core knowledge is reflected in the Knowledge Organisers Ensure all staff distinguish disciplinary knowledge from substantive knowledge Agree low-level formative assessment approaches across the subjects Deliver whole-phase or school summative assessments to test disciplinary knowledge.

There will be effective, embedded assessment systems within the named foundation subjects.
Screen pupils who are scoring below ARE on NTS tests. Introduce termly SPAG tests across KS2. Any pupils flagged as having a lower reading age then their chorological age will begin/continue the Catch Up Reading Programme Gap analysis on NTS tests to be completed by class teachers to inform planning Launch 5 arithmetic questions at the start of each maths lesson across the school.
