What will my son/daughter be studying in Year 9?

How will my son/daughter’s progress be assessed?

3 Assessment points during the Academic Year: • Week beginning 11 November • Week beginning 23 March • Week beginning 22 June Progress reports will be sent home following these exams

What my son/daughter should expect regarding homework: At secondary level, homework has the ability to improve the progress of all students. Students will be set regular homework following different types of activities: 1. Reading - reading practice is essential and allows students to build on their knowledge.

2. Knowledge Organiser - students will be asked to learn essential key facts and vocabulary to build a strong knowledge.

3. Low Stakes Tests - quizzes/tests that challenge knowledge and misconceptions.

4. Application - more detailed written responses that require students to practise key skills or to provide further challenge and stretch.
