Crime and Punishment - Students will explore characters such as Sherlock Holmes in order to gain an insight into life in the Victorian era. They will analyse the characters in fictional extracts and try their hand at solving murder mystery tales.

Speeches and Debate - Students will practise their persuasive skills in order to engage in a debate about building a theme park in the local area.

They will produce a final speech which they will deliver to the class about why they should become president.

Carousel 1 Insects - Students are introduced to the Visual Elements, Line, Shape, Tone, Form and Texture, Colour and Pattern.

To develop drawing skills and use of imagination.

Understanding computer systems including Hardware and Software. Using Flowol to mimic the control of real life scenarios. Understand Computer crime and cyber Security within the digital world.

Design in the real world Designing own perfume/aftershave or tea packaging based on a theme.

The Elephant Man - Exploring the true-life story of Joseph Merrick through role-play and script-writing, encouraging creative-thinking and empathic skills.

Carousel 2 Students experiment with a range of media to complete a final piece for the insect project.

Understanding how data is represented within a computer as numbers, text, images and sound. Using Fireworks to develop bitmap and vector graphics. Using Flash to develop animation skills. Using Scratch to develop visual programming skills.

Performance of a scripted extract- Students will memorise and perform a scripted extract in role, focusing on characterisation, vocal and physical skills.

Make a range of products using different cooking methods, including: Fruit Fusion, Apple Crumble, Bread Rolls. Learn about the importance of food hygiene and safety, making healthy choices and The Eatwell Guide.

Rumpelstiltskin - Students explore the narrative of this classic fairy tale exploring: role play, moral dilemmas, form and structure and physical theatre.

Make a range of products using different cooking methods, including: Healthy Chicken Nuggets, Savoury Plait, Spaghetti Bolognese. Students also learn about food provenance and factors affecting food choice.

Year 7 Curriculum Plan Music

Developing keyboard skills – Learning to play the keyboard using proper techniques and musical flair. As well as deciphering the treble clef and learning the elements of music.

Ukuleles – Learning to play the ukulele and perform as part of a successful ukulele ensemble. Focusing on listening, performing and teamwork skills.

Programme music – Revising the elements of music and using them to perform music, which tells a story, as well as create their own music using the elements. Students will also refine their keyboard performance skills.

Band skills – Students will learn chords, as well as how to play the drums and bass guitar. They will use their music skills learnt throughout the year to perform as part of a pop band ensemble, experimenting with these new instruments, but still focusing on creating a quality performance.
