Berlin 2019 Preparing for the Trip

Berlin 2019 Practical Packing Hand luggage only- liquids need to mini size 100ml max and in a plastic bag.

Appropriate clothing for a mix of weathers Comfortable footwear Share electrical items between friends e.g. Hairdryer Plug adaptors and mobile phone chargers Hat and Sun glasses, suitable bag to carry essentials all day.

Sunscreen ( small as we only have hand luggage) Towels – the hotel does provide towels.

Remember you will spend all day on your feet, so wear very comfortable footwear.

No large branded clothing or football shirts

Berlin 2019 Travel Documentation We require the following for your child before Friday 28th June 2018 to the Finance Office : - Passport - European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) Please complete the following tonight: - Sign Data Collection sheet - Sign Behaviour Contract

Berlin 2019 Medication We require any medication for your child prior to the visit departing.

Remember we only have hand luggage Please complete a administration of medication form for your child and return with the medication in a sealed bag to the general office by Friday 28th June 2019.

Berlin 2019 Spending Money Students will require money for lunch on day 1 when in the airport, we suggest no more ÂŁ20 for the airport in England.

Students are allowed to bring spending money with them.

Students will be responsible for their own money and purchases throughout the trip.

We recommend no more than â‚Ź120

Berlin 2019 During the visit there will be opportunities for which we would like to take photographs to show back in school, and in school media.

If you have not provided consent for your child to be photographed, please inform your child of this to prevent photographs being taken.

If you would like to provide consent please contact the general office.

Students must ask for permission of students and staff prior to posting picture on social media.

Berlin 2019 Day 1 – Tuesday 9th July 3.00am meet at Tarleton Academy Depart Tarleton Academy for Manchester airport.

6:40 am Travel to Berlin via flight- EZY1897 T1 9.40am-Arrive at Berlin Tegel Airport terminal C Travel via train to Hotel with Anglia guide.

Arrive at the Hotel Tiergarten Berlin Hotel and drop bags off.

Berlin 2019 Day 1 – Tuesday 9th July Day 1 we will travel with our guide and will focus on Nazi Germany.

Reichstag Brandenburg Gate Holocaust museum and memorial Fuhrer Bunker Lunch 2.30 German Historical Museum Bebelplatz- Censorship and repression, where in May 1933 the booking burning took place Return to accomodation 6.30 pm Evening dinner at Giraffe Restaurant

Berlin 2019 Day 2 – Wednesday 10th July Breakfast at the hotel 8:30am we will depart with packed lunches.

Public transport will be used.

Visit Sachsenhausen Concentration Camp 4:30- Wannsse Conference 6:30 evening meal at the Pavillon 8pm Reichstag tour

Return to Hotel

Berlin 2019 Day 3 – Thursday 11th July Breakfast at the hotel Depart by coach at 8.30am.

9.40am- Cecilienhof guided tour- site of the Potsdam Conference.

Glienicke Bridge 2.30- German-Russian Museum, The Berlin Wall Documentation Centre, Treptow Park.

6:30- Evening meal at Nante Eck 7.30 TBC- Bowling

Berlin 2019 Day 4 – Friday 12th July Breakfast & Check-out with packed lunches 9:30 am Stassi Prison guided tour 12:30 East side gallery, the longest remaining section of the Berlin Wall.

Lunch Check Point Charlie- good photograph opportunity.

Olympic Stadium tour TBC Free time for some shopping if time permits 7.30- arrive at Berlin airport Terminal C for inbound flight 21.50- Easy Jet flight to Manchester EZY1896 22:55- Flight arrives Coach transfer to Tarleton Academy Arrive at Tarleton Academy at around 12am

Berlin 2019 Visit Safety All students will be allocated a group leader who will supervise their group during the visit We will remind students throughout the trip about how to remain safe with regular instructions As in any large city, there are specific situations in which you should be vigilant with your belongings, tourists are a main target for pickpockets.

Berlin 2019 Personal Safety Students will be provided with Contact Cards that will contain: • Their student identity number for the visit • The visit leader name and contact number • The base contact name and contact number • The address of the hotel Staff will carry the mobile phone numbers of students for emergency use only. This will be collected prior to departure.

Berlin 2019 Group Safety Whilst on the visit students will be informed of emergency meeting points when visiting specific landmarks or sites e.g. Reichstag entrance.

In the event of an emergency students and staff will meet at the identified location for registration.

The group will then move to a safe place

Berlin 2019 Visit Updates School will keep parents up to date via the school Facebook and twitter pages.

Parents will receive a text message when the group arrives. Text messages will also be sent if the school is delayed both outbound and inbound.
