Gilwell Park is famous throughout the world for its Scouting heritage, beautiful setting and stunning range of activities.

Our Itinerary

The trip will run for 3 days

Monday 15th June – Wednesday 17th June.

The children will be staying for 2 nights with breakfast, lunch and dinner all provided.

The journey from St. Ursula’s Catholic Primary School to Gilwell Park takes between 35-40 minutes

Departure information

• We leave on Monday 17th June. The provisional time of departure is 8am – this will be confirmed closer to the time.

• Children are to arrive for registration at 7.45am

• Met by Gilwell staff and shown around: fire point, code of conduct, accommodation etc.

• The children will arrive back at St. Ursula’s on Wednesday 17th June at around 15.45-16.00

Medication

 Medication needs to be clearly labelled in it’s original packing.

 2 asthma pumps must be brought on the trip. The first to be kept with the child at all times the second handed to teacher with any other medicines.

 Any travel sickness pills should be administered by parents before departure and tablets for the return journey are to be given to the designated first aider.

 Children's names should be clearly marked on all medication. Liquid medicines should have a spoon/syringe included with them.

 We have opted for the fully catered option at Gilwell park

 Children will need to bring a packed lunch for their first day

 The should also bring a reusable water bottle with them which can be refilled throughout the day.

 Nut free school and this continues whenever we leave our school site.

Dietary requirements

We are able to cater for the 14 key allergens, as well as vegetarian, vegan and halal diets. Our catering team will try their utmost to cater for other allergies or intolerances, but we're unable to cater for personal tastes or preferences.

Accommodation

At Gilwell park we have 2 lodges books. One will be for the boys, the other for the girls.

Peter Harrison Lodge Gilwell Park

Peter Harrison is a modern, bright lodge sleeping up to 50 people.

Located adjacent to Wilson Way car park, it’s easy to unload all of your kit for your stay.

The building has ten four-bed rooms, three twin rooms, and three single rooms.

Two twin rooms in the building are accessible, with accessible washrooms.

Beds are provided mattress-only, so make sure you bring a sleeping bag and pillow

Dorothy Hughes Centre Gilwell Park

Dorothy Hughes is extremely popular for its cosy log cabin style and dorm rooms –perfect for those first nights away from home!

Located adjacent to Wilson Way car park so it’s easy to unload all of your kit for your stay.

The building sleeps 40 across two large dorms, one four-bed room and two twin rooms.

Beds are provided mattress-only, so make sure you bring a sleeping bag and pillow.

WHAT TO BRING?

As Children will need to bring a big travel bag packed full of clothes that can get dirty.

• A sun cap

• A thin waterproof

• Sun cream

• Small bag to keep dirty clothes in

• Towel and small shower gel

• Pyjamas

• Toothbrush and Toothpaste

• Sleeping bag and pillow

• Flipflops/shoes to wear to go to the bathrooms

• Clothes they can layer

WHAT TO BRING?

What NOT to bring

• Children must not bring valuable items e.g. handheld game consoles/digital cameras/smart watches

• No mobile phones allowed.

• No jewellery

• No chewing gum or share bags of sweets

Centre Behaviour

Be punctual when attending activities.

Behave with consideration and manners to others at all times.

All school rules still apply.

Session Behaviour

You must listen and concentrate when instructors are instructing you on the details of that specific activity. It is a health and safety requirement. You must arrive wearing the correct clothing for the activity.

Asthma pumps to be kept with you at all times and children should attempt every activity unless there is a medical reason.

Meal Behaviour

Wait to be seated by a member of staff. Use your manners and talk to the children on your table.

You must clear up after yourself and throw any rubbish straight into the appropriate bins. Failure to follow guidelines may result in a phone call home to parents to collect their child from the site.

Return

The children return at around 3.45pm on Wednesday

Please be ready to collect your children straight from the coach at St. Ursula’s Catholic Primary School.

The school website and parent mail will be used for updates.

Please check regularly for updates and estimated return time.

This year the trip is costing £290.00 for each pupil.
