OZZIE’S NEWS – 8.11.19
WEDNESDAY WORD – “HEAVEN” LOVE JESUS, LOVE LEARNING, LOVE EACH OTHER. OWLS’ CLASS MASS Owls celebrated their Mass on Monday at Church. The readings and prayers were all on the theme of remembrance and were very thoughtful. PHOTOGRAPHS Payment for these are online on the Tempest website and school will not be accepting any money for photographs. Photographs will be delivered to school in time for Christmas. POPPIES ARE FOR SALE Poppies and British Legion goods are still on sale. The suggested donation is 20p for a poppy and other goods range from 50p to £1. CHILDREN IN NEED Raffle tickets are on sale to win a Giant Pudsey. Tickets cost £1. The draw will be made on Friday 15th November. We will all be having a non-uniform day and will be wearing sporty clothes for Children In Need in return for a donation for the charity. CROSS COUNTRY Well done to all the children who braved the torrential rain to take part in the Cross Country trials at Leigh Sports Village on Wednesday. They all showed great
determination and resilience. A special mention to Maizie Trueman who qualified to represent Wigan in the Greater Manchester Cross Country competition later in the year. REMEMBRANCE TEA DANCE This afternoon we held a tea dance in aid of the Royal British Legion. We had a wonderful afternoon. We would like to thank everyone who supported us- our visitors, our pupils who danced, sang, read poems, acted and served High Tea, our parents and grandparents who donated cakes and our staff who donated raffle prizes and supported the children making poppies and practicing songs, poems and dances. John from the British Legion was overwhelmed when he stepped into the school hall seeing all generations together for such an important reason. John will be returning to school soon to speak to all of the children. We are committed to creating opportunities for our pupils to be an active part of the local community and for the local community to come into school.
“THE OZZIE’S WAY CHAMPIONS OF THE WEEK.” All of these children have made St. Oswald’s HAPPY this week. Well done children. Keep it up.
