WEDNESDAY WORD – “PREPARATION.” LOVE JESUS, LOVE LEARNING, LOVE EACH OTHER. LET THE FESTIVITIES BEGIN! Everywhere you go, you can hear children singing this week at St. Oswald’s. Our Collective Worships have focused on Advent and we’ve talked about the Advent wreath. The Christmas tree is bedecked with a huge range of stars with no two the same, so thank you for all of the efforts the children have gone to. PTA EVENTS The Christmas discos have been a huge success this week and the children have enjoyed dancing away to the tunes being played by our very own resident DJ, Mr Ode. Supper with Santa was also well supported and the children enjoyed having their picnic tea, playing pass the parcel and throwing snowballs, as well as having a chat with Santa. The PTA have also been at TSB bank today selling cakes and asking for donations, whilst the choir sang some Christmas songs. We’d like to thank all members of the PTA who have worked extremely hard preparing for the next few weeks, so that our children can benefit from the money raised. IMPORTANT – CHRISTMAS DINNER ORDERS Any pupil who wishes to have a school Christmas dinner must have placed their order by 9:30 a.m. on Monday 9th December. Please note this includes all EYFS and KS1 pupils on Universal Free School Meals. No order = No Christmas Dinner. Please note, this is the only option on that day along with a vegetarian option, but there are
no sandwiches or jacket potatoes available that day. WIGAN ATHLETIC VISITED US We had two Wigan players, Michael Jacobs and Kal Naismith come to visit us this week as we have been school of the week. The children really enjoyed chatting with them. THE CHOIR Our children went to perform at SOCHDOC’s Christmas event on Wednesday. They were spoilt by the organisers and enjoyed cakes and treats. Each child had a raffle ticket and some of our children came away with some fabulous prizes. A great afternoon was had by all. CHRISTMAS FLUMPETS These are on sale in school next week and they are £2 each. All money is for Wigan and Leigh Hospice. TREAD UK (NEAR LANDGATE SCHOOL) EVENT Tread UK are holding Santa’s Secret Markets tomorrow and the following Saturday, where you can visit Santa in his woodland lodge, make Christmas crafts and pick up lovely handmade gifts from the market stalls. Children - £10 including a gift from Santa, Adults - £3.00. The 10 week course with the Y5 and Y6 children has finished this week, with them learning how to light fires, and we are looking to run this again in the Spring Term for the Y3/Y4 pupils. BOOK SWAP Thank you for sending in books for the children to swap. We plan to run this event near Easter in 2020.
“THE OZZIE’S WAY CHAMPIONS OF THE WEEK.” All of these children have made St. Oswald’s HAPPY this week. Well done children. Keep it up.
