Friday 28th September WEDNESDAY WORD – GOODNESS Follow us on - Twitter - @saintoswalds THIS WEEK – During our Come and See (R.E) activities we have been going over Psalm 131 – I trust you God, just like a baby, safe and snug, being carried in a Mum’s arms. So I can rest in your love, so gently held, so loving held, so good to be in your care. I will rest in your love for me and the words from Isaiah – God says “you are precious to me, I love you, I know you, I know your name, I call you by your name. You are my child. Throughout the week, we have continued with our baseline assessments. Within literacy we have been writing words and captions related to Superheroes. During maths we have focussed on number 2 – counting sets of 2, making 2, adding 2 more and making a number 2 less. We have also looked at the shapes semi-circle and cone and the 2p coin. In the afternoon the children have joined in with Rock Kidz in preparation for the Rock Kidz concerts which were held either on Thursday or Friday at 5.30-7.30 evening this week. Within phonics we have been focusing on Phase 1 activities looking at alliteration. The children will be tuning in to the sounds that they hear at the beginning of words. Playing ‘I Spy’ and sound sorting sounds games, focussing on the initial sound. CHALLENGE FOR THE WEEKEND – Thank you for that dreams that you have sent in for your child, we hope we can fulfil these for you. Please continue to send them in if you haven’t already done so. We will be making a display of this to remind us of what you want for your child. We have attached a page of superhero activities that you can do as homework with your child up until half-term. You can decide which one you would like to do first and they can be done in any order. Once you have completed the task please send in any work, drawings or evidence of the homework into school so that we can include them in the orange folder. Thank you. NEXT WEEK – Within RE we will be coming the end of our topic on Myself and completing and end of topic celebration. We will be continuing with our baseline assessments, these will continue for a couple more weeks. Within Literacy, we will be looking at writing lists to help the Super heroes with their missions. Within maths we will looking at the number 3, thinking about shapes related to number 3, adding coins together to make 3p, finding different ways to make 3. During the afternoon, we will be designing and making our own Super hero capes thinking about which material will be best to make the capes. Within phonics, we will be focusing on Phase 1 activities focussing on oral chopping and blending and oral segmenting. The children will be tuning in to the sounds that they hear at the beginning of words and sorting objects into the correct set. SUPER HERO CAPES - We would like to ask if you could send in an old plain pillow case with your child name on so that they can design and make a Superhero cape to wear at our end of topic celebration which we will hold at the end of term.
