St Matthew’s CE Primary School Wider opening of school - June 2020 School has been too quiet for too long and we are really missing having our school family together.

As we are now in a position to begin a small and careful wider opening of the school, we have been very busy making the changes necessary to comply with the distancing and hygiene requirements set out by the Government.

This means that school looks very different inside.

This flip book is for you to share with your child(ren) so that they are prepared when they return.

When you come through the main gate you will notice some Yellow and Black tape markings. These are marked out at 2 metre intervals, please respect others and keep your distance whilst you are dropping off or waiting to collect.

This entrance is only to be used by the children of Key Workers and others who have continued coming to school during the partial closure.

If there is someone waiting to go into the main entrance, please wait here between the tape markers on the pillars.

Please press the buzzer to the right of the door and wait to be admitted to the school building. We are only allowing one family at a time within the entrance.

Remember, if there is someone standing at the door, please wait at the edge of the porch by the yellow and black tape until the entrance is clear.

It is very important that we keep the number of people on the school premises as small as possible; please respect the signs, keep your distance and do not come on to the school grounds.

When children are in the school, they will see that the corridors look very different.

We have used tape to create one-way systems in school, everyone must walk on the left-hand side.

The arrows on the floor will help to remind us.

Everyone must keep their distance as they walk around school and not go past people; we are all of us going to have to be patient if someone in front is moving more slowly than us.

We have anti-bacterial dispensers around school:

Each classroom has gel and soap:

Children will be expected to wash their hands when they arrive at school and at regular times during the day – staff will remind them.

Reception:

We have had to put a lot of the things we use away so we can keep everywhere really clean.

We have had to put a lot of things away and also stop some things being used as equipment we use has to be washed each time it is used.

St Matthew’s CE Primary School Every classroom is set up as a ‘bubble’ which can’t be burst.

This means that each ‘bubble’ will be made up of staff and children and they will only work with each other. So that we can make sure we are not spreading any germs only those people will be allowed in their ‘bubble’.

All our lessons and even our lunches will be in our ‘bubbles’.

Don’t worry though, you will still get your playtime but only your bubble will be on your bit of the playground when you are outside.

When we sneeze we can spread germs, we don’t want to do that so every classroom has plenty of tissues to use.

When you cough or sneeze your tissue must go into this bin in your ‘bubble’ and the you must wash your hands (the paper towel goes in this bin too!).

We are really, really looking forward to getting everyone back to school but for now we can only have the children who we are able to have.

Hopefully before too much longer we can put our classrooms back to normal and be back together again as our school family
