YEAR 6 HOMEWORK Thank you for your amazing homework in Autumn One. Lots of hard work and effort went into this and lots of progress has been made in both the understanding of semi colons and also of the topic work. This half term we have provided 8 options for homework tasks and we will expect at least 5 to be completed. The homework is due Friday, 7th December. Many Thanks, Year 6 Team. Here is the homework for this half term: READING - a minimum of 30 minutes three times a week. Children should have their reading journal in school every day and are encouraged to use the comprehension section at the front of the journals to think further about their reading. SPELLING – each Friday there will be a spelling test. The children will receive spellings each week on a Monday after the spelling pattern has been introduced. MATHS - Weekly homework My maths and differentiated sheet from group teacher HOMEWORK PROJECT – See below for the 8 activities that make up this half term’s homework project. Five need to be completed and handed in 7th December . These activities can be done in any order and will be shared in class after the deadline. They can be handed in inside the purple homework book or by email to info@stjohnsrc.net with the subject as your child’s name and class.           

Design a poster about the uses of modal verbs Write a set of instructions on how to make your favourite meal including modal verbs Create a presentation about a famous world leader from past of present and what they have achieved Using any art materials to hand draw a Victorian themed street Prepare an answer to the question –Were Victorian workhouses a positive place for the poor? Discuss Find out what a prepositional phrase is and write ten sentences that include them Write a story set in Victorian England – you have escaped the workhouse what adventure do you have? Find out what Brexit is Who was Doctor Banardo and what did he do? Research the Jesse Tree. Make one of your own or prepare a short presentation on it. If Jesus were born in Manchester today, what gift would you give him and why?
