Year 5 - Autumn 1 Homework Homework at St. John’s is changing. We are hoping that this will give children and families more flexibility regarding when homework is handed in and also give children the opportunity to enjoy learning through the wider curriculum. Here is the homework for this half term: READING – Your child should read independently or to an adult EVERY night for a minimum of 30 minutes. Please also encourage them to choose a suitable question (see reading journal) to answer about their book, noting the answer in their reading journal or discussing it with them. At St John’s we use the AR reading programme to ensure your child is reading books that suitably challenge them. The class teacher will check the book’s suitability for your child. (Please read the notes within your child’s reading journal for further guidance.) Children should bring their reading journal in school every day. SPELLING – each Friday there will be a spelling test using the weekly spellings below. MATHS - Multiplication and division facts for all times tables. (Listed at back of reading/homework journal) ***Very soon the children will have a login for a new, online maths homework. DETAILS TO FOLLOW HOMEWORK ACTIVITIES – See below the 4 activities that make up this half term’s homework project. The activities can be done in any order. They need to be completed and handed in on or before Friday 12th October 2018. On this date, the children will have the chance to display and share their work with their teachers and peers. This will be a wonderful day – we are looking forward to celebrating hard work and rewarding success.
