Year 3 Homework – Summer 1 Thank you for all your hard work with your Spring 2 homework. We really enjoyed looking at it with you and were very proud of the efforts you had made.

Here is the homework for this half term: READING - EVERY night for a minimum of 20 minutes. Children should have their reading journal in school every day and are encouraged to use the comprehension section at the front of the journals to think further about their reading. SPELLING – each Friday there will be a spelling test using the weekly spellings on the next page. MATHS  Practise timetables for weekly multiplication checks . This half term we will be looking at the 8 and 9 times tables.  Four Maths tasks for this half term have been set up on mymaths.co.uk. If you are having problems accessing this or have forgotten your login details, please contact your child’s class teacher. HOMEWORK PROJECT – See below for the activities that make up this terms homework project. They need to be completed and handed in on or before Friday 12th April . These activities can be done in any order and can be handed in in any format: paper, scrapbook, PowerPoint presentation etc. As we want the children to get the most out of their homework project, we do ask that they take as much care with the presentation of their homework as they do with their work in class and that when the internet is being used for research, that the children are writing/typing up their work and not copying large chunks from websites such as Wikipedia. IPC Topic Focus ‘Gateways to the World’ Our new IPC topic is ‘Gateways to the World’ so the homework tasks will be linked to this topic. Task 1: Think about a holiday destination you have visited and describe what you did. Things to discuss include:  what you did on the holiday  talk about the distance/time taken to travel there.  Contrast the language, food and climate of your holiday destination. Task 2: Writing Task linked to our new IPC Topic You have a ‘lost luggage’ suitcase containing a selection of different items. Your challenge is to describe what is in the lost luggage suitcase and write a profile about who the person might be and why they may be travelling. For example, they could be a secret agent, an explorer or a travel journalist. What adventures might they have?
