Welcome To Springfield!

We are very excited to welcome you all in September and eagerly await government guidelines to safely make this happen. We will be in touch as soon as plans are finalised.

At Springfield the reception classes are located in the foundation unit. Although they are split into two separate classes with a designated teacher, all children have access to the entire space and will be taught by all staff.

The Best Start!

Every child deserves the best possible start and the support that enables them to fulfil their potential. We would like them to settle as quickly as possible and more importantly enjoy school.

Open door The foundation unit doors open at 9 o'clock. You can help your children in the cloakroom and bring them to their classroom.

On the carpet there will be books to enjoy. It is your decision as to whether you stay and help to settle them before leaving.

This also gives you opportunity to ask the staff any questions you may have.

A typical day in reception 9:00 Open door 9:10 Registration Discussion – days of the week song/weather/news etc.

9:20 Letters and Sounds - carpet 9:40 Focused activities, which may be sound work, letter or number work, whilst a guided group work with the teacher.

10:00 Applying skills - children have the opportunity to apply their skills through play.

11:00 Number work - carpet 11:20 Focused activities 11:45 Lunch time

1:00 Registration 1:15 Topic activities which include ICT, P.E, music, science, history, geography and circle time activities 2:05 Applying skills through play 3:05 Story 3:20 Get ready to go home 3:30 Home time

Lunch time At Springfield we use Parent Pay www.parentpay.com which is an online payment service. You will receive your login details via email as soon as possible. Please use the detail provided to register and book your meals. Through Parent Pay, you can order your child’s lunches. They may bring a packed lunch from home if you wish. The kitchen offer sandwich, vegetarian, jacket potatoes and main meal options. Any dietary requirements will be catered for.

Our school milk scheme Our milk scheme is available to all pupils. We would like to invite you to register your child before September via www.coolmilk.com. School milk is free for all under-5s.

Each child that registers with Cool Milk will receive a 189ml portion of semi-skimmed milk every day, delivered fresh and chilled to the classroom. School milk will not only provide them with essential nutrients, but as it is rehydrating and energy boosting it also bridges the gap between breakfast and lunch to help children stay focused. Free milk will continue until the Friday before your child’s fifth birthday, for over-5s it is available at a subsidised price of 22p per day. You will receive a payment request four weeks before their birthday - if you wish your child to continue to receive school milk, simply make a payment.

School Uniform School uniform can be purchased either online www.greenswear.co.uk or in store from Greenswear, Cleethorpes.

What do they need?

Please make sure that ALL clothing is labelled with your child’s name.

P.E kit- School P.E T-shirt from Greenswear, black shorts and plimsolls.

Springfield Book bag- also available from Greenswear.

Lunchbox if bringing own lunch and a named water bottle.

Book Bags & Homework • Every Thursday you will receive a weekly letter describing what the children have been doing all week.

• Homework will be a short activity consolidating the week’s learning.

• Reading books and a reading record will go home weekly, in which you can comment and communicate.
