ROB PAYNE EditorDearparents,guardians,carers,
As we come to the end of another busy and productive school term, I wanted to say thank you to parents for the immense support from so many. Once again, we have many things to celebrate at Poole High School and I am immensely proud of the passion, achievement and wide breadth of interests our pupils demonstrate daily. With trips and events having taken place to local universities, Duke of Edinburgh expeditions, PE Sports Award Evenings, a performance of Blood Brothers and Work Experience Weeks to name but a few, I would like to commend pupils on their behaviour and ambassadorial representation for the school, when these opportunities are presentedtothem.
I would like to congratulate our Y11 pupils who have worked diligently throughout their mock exams and I am confident our Y10 pupils will replicatethisaftertheEasterbreak.
All students will be involved in exams or assessments next term. Over Easter we encourage a balanced but disciplined approachtorevision.Forsome, thiswillinclude attending Easter revision support classes which Ihope, willfurtherenhancetheirconfidence,as theyapproachthemostimportantterm.

The front cover and above picture were by Ellie Sturman, the ones on the following page are by Honey-Mai Clifford. Both are students in Year 9.
For all year groups end of term rewards were given to students that were top performers in the 100 Scores. Extra rewards were also given for most improved.

NOISY COCKERELS, HUNGRY DOGS AND MUD!
DUKE OF EDINBURGH
STUDENTS BEGIN THEIR JOURNEY INTO THE WILD
Silver DofE Students have been putting their best boot forward this season, setting off with gusto and grit. They seem so determined to get this section done with as much positive determination as they did with their Bronze Award, yet with so much more confidence. Skills and knowledge from previous training has meant that they were morethanreadyforthedayswalkingahead.
Campingwithbasicamenitiesinalocalfarm enabled our Silver participants to showcase the skills already mastered in setting up camp.
We could really see the teams bonding well together over dinner. Although, some of the farm animals asserted their dominance from thegetgomuchtoeveryone'samusement! The menagerie included an angry goose, noisy cockerels', perfect for 3am wake up calls, and the farmers springer that wanted nothingmorethantobeahooveraftermeal times and a hot water bottle substitute in theirtents!
Their first meal cooked with the flair of Jamie Oliver!Pastaandsaucewentdownwellbefore startinganighthikeonThursdayevening. Fortunately, it wasn't quite as boggy as anticipatedaftertherecentrainfall.Stillmuddy enough to keep them focused on their path and staying upright. A mild evening helped the initialwalkwarmthemusclesandspirits. With the next two day’s hard hitting trails ahead, willthattimeontheirfeetstarttoshow cracksinthesoles?
Or, harden their ever-growing aptitude to the wonderful outdoor spaces they have already proventorelishinpreviousadventures! We strongly feel the latter and judging by this morning's vibrantly, positive start, their approach is already winning in this next part of this awards journey.
Hurrah!
In January our T Level Finance students attended the FinTech West South Coast Showcase at Bournemouth University. They were able to listen to entrepreneurs and leaders in the FinTech industry about how they are trying to help develop businesses across the BCP area.

A very wet and stormy cross-country season has meant that a number of fixtures were unfortunately cancelled this year. However we had some outstanding performances in the events that were able to go ahead, some of the highlightsincluded…
Milton Abbey invitational – It was our first year being invited to this event which supports the charity ’#WillDoes’. A fantastic event in a beautiful setting, and the Poole High team did not disappoint on their debut, with Charlie Collins winning the boys race and Cameron Wicks finishing third. We are looking forward to returningnextyear!
CountyChampionships–Ouryear7boysfinished a fabulous 2nd in the team rankings, with 2 of them (Zac Partridge and Joseph Preston) qualifying to represent Dorset as individuals at the South West Championships. Cameron Wicks also ran superbly in the Junior Boys to qualify to represent Dorset. The outstanding performance of the day was from Charlie Collins, who becamecountychampionintheInterBoysrace!
South West Championships – Charlie Collins came 5th in the Inter Boys race (1st Dorset finisher). Cameron Wicks 47th in Junior Boys. Joseph Preston 21st in Minor Boys. Zac Partridge 62nd Minor Boys. A brilliant experience for all of them!
English Schools – Charlie rounded off his season with a sensational performance at the English Schools Championships. Charlie placed an incredible 27th out of 329 runners (made up from the best 8 runners from each county in the country).
Year7–TheYear7boyshavecarriedontheir fantastic start to PHS with more success at the Dorset School 7s Festival! Winning 3, Drawing 1 and losing 1. That means the boys havelostonlyONEgameallseason!
Year8-TheYear8boysplayedwithunityand a smile on their face at Dorset School 7s. Going unbeaten! Winning 4 Games and drawing1.Afantasticeffortfromthemall.
Year 10 – The Year 10 Boys have gone from strength to strength this year. It has been a hugely successful season despite losing the WessexLeagueFinalbyonetry!Itwasagreat game of rugby with hard running, big tackles andsofthands.
Despite this disappointment the Year 10s bounced back and took part in the Dorset 7s Tournament where they beat Leaf, drew with StPeters, beatBudmouthandthenQE.
In the final they beat Poole Grammar by 3 tries to 0! An extremely well deserved trophy fortheboys!Welldone.
A number of the Y10 boys have been representing Dorset and Wilts at the Bath DPP festivaltoo!
A big congratulations must also go out to Digby for being selected in the Bath u15 Pre Academygroupthisseason.
Sixth Form – The Sixth Form team enjoyed what was a new experience for 9 out of 11 players at the Dorset 7s. The boys unfortunately suffered losses but left the festival both improved players and with massive smiles on their faces! They are already looking forward to the next tournament.
Our Year 8 football team have continued to develop showing real depth within the squad this season. We have been able to field two separate teams across three competitions reaching the semi finals in two of them. The team narrowly missed out on reaching the final in the County Cup on penalties and are due to play the PEDSSA Cup semi final just before the Easterbreak.
Our Year 9 football team have had a brilliant run in the PEDSSA Cup reaching the final which will be played when we return from the Easter break. The squad has continued to develop and challenge each other which has allowed new faces to make the starting eleven. Keep up the goodworkYear9!
Y8 netballers won the majority of their games in the PEDSSA netball league to finish in the top half of the resultstableinMarch.
Back in January they just missed out on medals coming 4th in the PEDSSA tournament, but they were the topteamfromnon-private/selectiveschools!
