Coronation Celebrations Thursday 4 May

We would like to invite families to join us after school on Thursday 4 May from 3.15 pm to celebrate the King’s Coronation that will take place that weekend.

It is a busy time of year with our Deputy Head interviews and SATs the following week and with this in mind we have decided to keep the celebrations simpler. The event will be not be on the scale of our Jubilee celebration as there will not be whole school performances, but our wonderful choir will be singing and there will be refreshments such as cakes, biscuits, tea and coffee available!

We would love you to join our mini street party and celebrate with us!

If you would like to grab your apron and do a bit of baking and donate some cakes or biscuits they would be very gratefully received! Make sure you save the date!

Year 1 Class Assembly

The Year 1 Class Assembly will be held on Thursday 27 April at 2.50 pm. Parents, carers and families of Year 1 children are invited to join us to watch the assembly. Entry will be via the KS2 gate at 2.45 pm. We hope you can join us!

Parent Governor

We received 1 nomination for the Parent Governor vacancy, which means that there is no need for a Governor election. We are very pleased to announce that Mrs Michelle Wainwright, mum to Oliver and the Year 3 Class Representative, will be joining our Governing body. Mrs Wainwright is a Patient Safety Manager within the NHS and has many transferrable skills that will help to support our school.

PFA Meeting - Wednesday 26 April at 7.30 pm

The next meeting of the PFA is at the Butchers Arms at 7.30 pm on Wednesday 26 April - there is lots of planning for events and it would be great if you could pop along to support them with offers of help or ideas - everyone is welcome.

19 Mile Challenge

An educational television programme for young people in Afghanistan has been launched by the BBC. The TV show has been created to help children, who have been banned from going to school in the country, and is aimed at children aged 11 to 16. The Taliban group, who took over the country in 2021, have stopped girls over the age of 11 from attending school. The weekly programme is called Dars, which means ‘lesson’ in Afghanistan’s official language.

Each episode of the BBC programme will be 30 minutes long and will be shown four times each day on TV, radio and Facebook. The show is aimed at children aged between 11 and 16 and will use the BBC’s existing teaching content such as elements of maths, history, science and ICT from BBC Bitesize.

Things to talk about at home:

* Share your thoughts on the new TV programme for young people in Afghanistan

* Thinking about how you learn, what is your preferred way, eg by listening, writing, doing?

* In what ways would your life be different without school?

Holly G in Year 6 completed the Cheshire Hike 2023 over the Easter break along with 700 scouts. She walked over 19 miles and took 75000 steps over 2 days. She had to plan, navigate, pitch a tent, cook and pass through checkpoints as well as completing challenges along the way, all independently. Holly was amazing, particularly as she was one of the youngest taking part. Her family are all very proud of her and so are we - well done Holly!

Happiness Team’s Lunchtime Club

It was the Happiness Team’s first lunchtime club today and it was well attended. There were various activities on offer including crafts and colouring. They will be holding their club again next week - well done to the whole team!
