Baby News
Mrs Richards Deputy Headteacher
As the Summer Term comes to an end, I am so proud of what our school community have achieved together this year. Thank you to all of our pupils, staff, parents, governors and community for all of your continued support.

.
We are thrilled to announce the safe arrival of beautiful baby Polly. Mrs Pearce is doing well and we are all excited to welcome them back in the new school year, when Polly will become our Roots of Empathy baby 2025/2026

A highlight of this term was the publication of our Estyn Inspection report which stated that, 'well-being is at the core of all that they do and is fundamental to their success. ' The inspectors were impressed with the opportunities our pupils receive and the progress they make. I have had the pleasure of attending the PGL Liddington, Dolygaer and Llangrannog residential visits this term and to see the children's confidence, resilience and determination was a joy.
Reception pupils also enjoyed a visit to Cefn Mably Farm, Year 1/2 visited Barry Island and Year 5/6 visited Llanelli Wetlands. Year 3 also attended a 3-week intensive swimming course and Year 4 participated in intensive cycling sessions. Yet again, we received many compliments about our children's excellent behaviour and 'have a go ' attitude. They are true Libanusians! Thank you for a super year! Have a wonderful summer holiday!

You have a voice, you have a choice
Embracing one of our school slogans, Mrs Williams put herself forward to become an advisor to the Education Minister for Wales, Lynne Neagle After submitting a lengthy application and participating in a tough interview process, we are thrilled to announce that Mrs Williams, along with only 18 other Headteachers from across the country is now part of the Ministerial Headteachers Advisory Group.
The group will focus on the Cabinet Secretary's priorities for education. The approach to education reform and improvement will aim to create a whole system that works for all learners There will be a particular emphasis on mental health and wellbeing and the whole-school approach This is fundamental to delivering a sustained improvement in attendance, educational attainment and closing the attainment gap for our most disadvantaged learners. A further priority is support for curriculum design, progression and assessment and ensuring teachers have the knowledge, resources and confidence to maximise the benefits of the curriculum. Alongside curriculum, implementation of a consistent approach to additional learning needs reform will be another important area of focus.
Across these areas, the group will consider policy development, strategic planning, programme implementation and evaluation, stakeholder engagement and emerging issues and trends within the sector .
We are ever so proud of your achievements Mrs Williams!

We are thrilled to announce we have been awarded the UNICEF Rights Respecting School Bronze Award. Thank you to Mrs Pearce and the school council for their hard work and dedication in spreading the word about our children's rights and how these are to be

Once again, we have enjoyed having student teachers from USW this year and what a pleasure it has been. Libanus would like to wish Lauren, Sarah, Ellie, Caitlin and Malak every success in their future careers.
What is a Rights Respecting School?
The Rights Respecting School promotes the UN convention on the rights of the child. This is an integral part of Libanus' ethos and vision statement. RRS supports children in becoming global citizens and supports our belief that children achieve most when they feel included and valued We want children at Libanus to learn about their rights and feel empowered about their education. We recognise that rights and responsibilities are equally balaunced and encourage our children to take responsibility for their actions in order to develop an awareness of how they might affect the rights of others. The aim is to help children achieve their potential and become responsible citizens. We will continue to educate our children about their rights and are aiming for our Silver award next time ☺

Ever wondered what happens during Teacher Training days? Well, during our last INSET day the teachers headed to the Capital of Wales to learn more about cynefin and what it means to belong in Wales We were guided around Cardiff Museum where we engaged in art observations, created our own pencil drawings, and even collaborated on big scale art pieces. We have taken away some great ideas for our children and can't wait to use some of the knowledge, skills and strategies with our classes in the new year.

We had a wonderful day learning about Victory in Europe day this term. Pupils learnt classic World War II songs and created their own banners and flags Whilst the nursery celebrated with a picnic in the outdoors, the rest of the school participated in a street party in the back yard. We thought the children really did look fabulous dressed in blue, white and red!
