It’s Time!

Create a timeline to show the key events of World War 2.

Fact Finding

Research what school life was like for children who were living during World War 2. What did children wear and what activities did they complete at school?

Money, Money, Money

Research old British currency, draw the coins and then try and find out how much items cost then compared to today’s prices. Eg sugar

Battle it out!

Play a game of battleships with a family member.

Find out about battleships, airplanes or tanks used during World War 2. You could draw and label or even create a model of one of these.

What would you pack?

Imagine you are an evacuee, you can only take 6 items with you, explain what you would take and why. You could draw and label your picture.

Flags

Research and then make the flags from the countries

Involved in World War 2. You could sew, paint or colour the flags.

Make it!

Design, make and test a parachute (using a toy or weight) that would allow a member of the RAF to land safely.

What shall I wear?

Research the clothes that people wore during the war years.

Prepare an outfit you can wear (this can be very simple and created easily with items from home) for our VE day celebrations at the end of our topic.

Local and Family Research

Interview an older person or ask family members (they may remember information that was passed on to them) to find out what is was like during the war years in Leyland.

Ask the question

Create your own quiz or word search using facts or key words we have used during the half term. I will try and complete your quiz!

Morale Boost!

Learn a wartime song and perform it to your family (send it on Seesaw so I can see!)

Children’s choice

Have your own homework idea linked to our topic or what we have been learning about. Extra points for creativity.
