English: We start the half term using the book The Firework-Maker’s Daughter. We will then continue the half term sharing some more lovely texts which link with our topic, like Rose Blanche which will lead to us writing in role , with historical details, through diary entries and letters home. We will also read the lovely class play ‘Bombs and Blackberries’ and listen to the BBC radio play ‘Friend or Foe’ learning about and writing our own playscripts. Maths: This half term we will learn about… Measurement - Area - Find the area of rectilinear shapes by counting squares - Compare area - Make rectilinear shapes Number – Multiplication and Division -multiply and divide by 0, 1, 10 100 -multiply and divide by 6 , 7 and 9 -Multiplication and division facts- 3x, 6x, 9x, 7x, 11x, 12x -multiply three numbers

Year 4 Half-term 2: ‘Keep Calm and Carry on ’ History: Britain at War. The origins of World War Two and consider what life was like for a child during the war years. We will learn about rationing, evacuation, propaganda, local history and the celebration when the war was over. PE: This half term we will continue our learning about invasion games and net games like netball.

Science: States of Matter. This half term we will explore solids, liquids and gases. We will learn about changing and reversable changes. We will investigate pouring solids and liquids, the volume of liquids and solids and how we can change liquids to solids. We will plan and carry out experiments about melting and evaporation.
