Maths:
This half term we will extend on what we know about multiplication and division to begin multiplying and dividing 2-digit numbers by 1-digit numbers. Then, we will look at fractions, comparing and ordering them. Finally, we will start looking at mass and capacity, using grams, kilograms, litres and millilitres.


English: The text that we will be looking at this half term is The Iron Man by Ted Hughes. We will be looking at the characters and the story, we will then look at creating our own character and events that will happen to them. Later in the half term we will look at writing a diary for the Iron Man. Our grammar focus will be on verbs, adverbs and conjunctions.
Year 3 Half Term 4/Spring 2:
Ancient Civilisations
Science: This half term in science we will look at light. This will be broken down into darkness, sunlight, reflection and shadows.

RE: The question that we will be considering this half term is, what do Christians mean by the “holy spirit”. We will look at different forms of worship in Christianity and how to ‘holy spirit’ is important to some of them.



PE: Physical Education will be lead by our sport partners at West Lancashire Sports Partnership. P.E. will be on Wednesdays and Thursdays. They will be focusing on striking and fielding games and defence games and outdoor activities as part of forest schools.


Computing: In computing we will be looking at e-mails, using touch type at write them. We will also be looking at e-mail safety.
History: In History we will be comparing ancient civilisations looking at ancient Egypt, Sumer, Indus Valley and the Shang Dynasty from China. We will look at what all of the civilisations have in common.

Music: In music this half term we will be looking at music from around the world, celebrating our differences. We will be looking at pop songs that tell a story.

Year 3 Half Term 4/Spring 2: Ancient Civilisations
Art & Design: In Art this half term we will be continuing to looking at the techniques of printing using paint. We will look at different techniques and practice them. To support this, we will be looking at the artist Andy Warhol.


Spanish: Our Spanish teacher will be teaching us the days of the week. We will practice these every day in class, answering the register with the day of the week in Spanish. We will also learn different fruits.
PSHE: This half term in PSHE we are looking at keeping and staying healthy around medicines. We will look at what safety measures are used for medicine bottles and why. We will consider what you should od if you feel unwell.
