English:
In English, this half term we will be focusing on the text “ Muddle Puddle Farm”. We will use this text to write our own animal adventure stories and leaflets for a farm.
We will also look at “The big Book of Riddles”. Using our farm knowledge we will create our own riddle about a farm shop.
Maths:
In Maths this half term, we will be continuing with Multiplication and Division and then we will start our learning on measurement.
Science:
In science we are continuing to look at the different habitats around the world and the differences between them. Alongside our weekly lesson we have an experiment ongoing. We will continue to observe the changes over the upcoming weeks before recording our findings.
Year 2 Half-term 4:
‘Farm to Fork’
ART and Design and Technology:
In ART this half term we will be looking at Artist Yayoi Kusuma. This unite will focus on printing. In DT this half term our topic is “food technology”. We will be growing our own potatoes. We will research into where potatoes come from and how they arrive on our plates! We will then create some dishes using the potatoes we have grown.
PE:
In addition to our maths lessons we are also going to be working on learning the 2x 5x 10x table.
In PE this half term we have 2 sessions of PE. We will continue to work on our fundamental skills.
Music:
Our question this half term is ‘How Does Music Teach Us About Our Neighbourhood?’
We will go on a magical journey learning new songs to perform and using the musical instruments.
Geography:
In Geography this half term we will be doing a Local area study and also looking at a small area in a contrasting non-European country. We will be looking at population, features of both areas, differences of both areas and interesting information.
Computing:
This half terms unit of work is called ‘Effective Searching’. We will be learning how to search safety but also how to get the best results. By the end of this unit they will have a better understanding of searching the internet and they will showcase this by creating a leaflet to help other children understand how to search the Internet effectively.
PSHE
RE:
Our year 2 focus question for the year is: : How do we respond to the things that really matter?
This half term our unit is called ‘Islam’. Our focus question this half term is ‘Why do Muslims believe it is important to obey God?’
In PSHE we are going to be focusing on Keeping/Staying Healthy. We will complete two units called:
-Healthy eating
-Fire safety
