Maths: Place Value (within 20) This half term we will be counting forwards and backwards to 20, looking at numbers from 11-20, partitioning numbers into tens and ones, we will be counting one more and one less and comparing and ordering numbers to 20. Addition and Subtraction (within 20) We will look at how to add by counting on, adding ones using number bonds, finding and making number bonds, adding by making 10 and subtraction crossing and not crossing 10.
English: This half term we will be enjoying a range of traditional tales with a particular focus on Little Red Riding Hood. The children will be writing their own innovated story based on Little Red Riding Hood. We also be looking at traditional rhymes as inspiration to write our own rhymes.
Year 1 - Spring 1: ‘Once Upon A Time’
Shape: We will be naming 3D shapes. Science: At the start of this half term we will be looking at plants. We will name parts of plants and then plant some seeds. These will stay in class to grow until the weather get warmer. Then we will be learning about and classifying different animal groups.
PE: In PE this half term we have 1 session of PE lead by our PE coach on a Monday and 1 session lead by Mrs Wilson on Tuesday. We are continuing learning and perfecting the 7 fundamental skills. RE: In RE will be looking at Islam and we will be answering the question, ‘How might beliefs about creation affect the way people treat the world?’
