Maths: Addition and subtraction (within 10) Read, write and interpret mathematical statements involving addition, subtraction and equals sign. Represent and use number bonds and related subtraction facts within 10. Solve one step problems that involve addition and subtraction, using concrete objects and pictorial representations and missing number problems. Shape Recognise and name common 2-D shapes, including rectangles (including squares), circles and triangles. Recognise and name common 3-D shapes, including cuboids (including cubes), pyramids and spheres. RE: In RE will be looking at Christianity (Jesus) and be answering the question, ‘Why is Jesus special to Christians?’.
English: This half term we will be enjoying the book, ‘Lost and Found’ by Oliver Jeffers. Lost and Found is a heartfelt story about a boy who finds a penguin on his doorstep and tries to return him to where he belongs. The children will write their own version of Lost and Found. We will also be producing non-chronological reports on Penguins.
Year 1 Half-term 2: ‘Winter Wonderland’
Science: In Science, we will be looking at Animals and Humans. We will learn to name and identify common animals and their features. We will look at the differences between carnivores, omnivores and herbivores. We will also look at the human body and name, draw and identify the different parts.
PE: In PE this half term we have 2 sessions of PE. One lead by Mrs Wilson on Tuesday and one lead by our PE Coach on Friday.
Computing: In computing, we will be using Purple Mash to create a pictogram and become Lego Builders!
