Lomeshaye Life We have come to the end of a fantastic first half term. The children have worked hard in all areas of their learning and shown that they have made great progress early in the school year. It has been wonderful to see amazing assemblies for parents from pupils in Year 3 and 6 and also great film making skills shared on Family Friday from Year 5. I hope that everyone has a safe and restful holiday. See you on Monday 29th October for another terrific term. Well done to everyone who made it to school this week. We have smashed our whole school attendance target again, achieving 98.2%. Every single class beat the target of 96% what a fantastic achievement! Enjoy the week off school and I hope we will be celebrating superb attendance again in the new half term. Parent Assemblies— this week children in Year 3 and 6 put on outstanding assemblies for their parents, showing all of the learning that they have undertaken this half term in relation to the “This is Me” project in Year 3 and “The Highwayman” in Year 6. It was a fabulous celebration of learning, new skills and talents from our amazing pupils. Canal and River Trust Visitors— We were visited on Monday by two gentlemen from the Canal and River Trust. They came to meet with three pupils from Years 4 and 5 who had recently written to the MP Andrew Stephenson about the pollution and litter around the canal near school. The children discussed ideas of how to improve the environment and encourage people to be responsible with litter. If you want to help the Towpath Taskforce to improve the local environment they will be meeting on the first Saturday of every month on the canal bank opposite the Palatine Banqueting Hall on Norfolk Street. Harvest Donation— Thank you for the wonderful donations to our Harvest appeal. Over 600 food items were collected and distributed this week to local residents at Imperial Gardens and to the Salvation Army for their food bank. This is an outstanding example of kindness and the recipients were delighted with their parcels. Family Film Evening— Our first Family Film Evening on Thursday was a great success. Thank you to all who came. I hope to be able to have another film evening in the Spring term, this will be a ticket event for 150 people so that children and adults can all sit together. I hope the next one will be as popular. Anyone who took a quiz to complete, remember to return it to Miss Jones after the holidays to be in with a chance of winning a prize. Mr Nuttall— today was Mr Nuttall’s last day of work. He is going to retire to have a wonderful adventure and life in Greece. Thank you to all who came to say “goodbye” this morning. Mr Nuttall has been a wonderful member of the Lomeshaye family for 9 and a half years and he will be missed by us all. We wish him all the best for his new life in Greece. School Photographs— On Monday 29th October (our first day after the holiday) we will be having school photographs for Lomeshaye children only. Please send your child to school in full, smart uniform including black school shoes.
