Lomeshaye Life We have had a great week at school. The children have been enjoying lots of new learning and have been showing what fantastic attitudes they have in and around school. Well done to everyone who made it to school this week. We have smashed our whole school attendance target and achieved 97.7%. Every single class beat the target of 96%, what a fantastic achievement. This is great news. Let’s see if we can keep it up next week too!
Great News for the Whole School This week we have had three pieces of wonderful news that we would like everyone to know about and celebrate. 1. We have been specially chosen as one of 11 schools in Lancashire to take part in a unique history and music project that involves working with live musicians and producing work on a Victorians theme in collaboration with Queen Street Mill in Burnley. Mrs. Brunton, our fantastic music teacher, will be leading this piece of work over the year and will be inviting us to a special production that will be taking place in Preston to celebrate everyone’s work in June 2019. I am sure there will be more news on this to follow as the exciting work gets underway. 2. The school has been awarded the Artsmark Silver Award. This is to recognise all of our hard work to promote and teach about arts education and celebrates our work in drama, dance, music, art, creative and cultural learning. We have been on the Artsmark journey for just over 2 years, with Mrs. Foote leading the area in school, and all of our hard work and developments have paid off with this Silver award. Now we will be going for GOLD!!! 3. And last but not least, we have also been awarded the Eco Schools Bronze award for our efforts to become more environmentally friendly and for promoting recycling and reusing of items that would otherwise be sent to landfill sites. Miss Briggs and the Eco Warriors are making great efforts to improve our environmental awareness and help us to become a more sustainable school. It won’t be long before the Silver Eco Award is ours too! Wednesday 26th—European Day of Languages, activities taking place in school. Friday 28th—Attendance Raffle and Celebration Assembly at 9am, all welcome.
