Fundraising

Our whole school really pulled together this year to raise a whopping £1460 for the Turkey and Syrian Earthquake disaster in the Spring Term I know the support and kindness was appreciated by one of our families in particular, who has relatives that live in Turkey. Thank you!

Young Carers

This year has seen young carer groups become more established and we now have 24 identified young carers within our school These pupils have delivered 2 whole school assemblies, to raise awareness and offer their support to other carers Thank you!

Physical Wellness

Thanks to Mrs Cox our Physical Education Lead Teacher and Coordinator, our Libanus children have been able to participate in a wide range of sporting activities this year Pupils have been able to attend Caerphilly run netball, football, golf, cricket, hockey and athletic tournaments and taster sessions Also thank you to Mrs Richards for organising our residential visits These opportunities gave our children a sense of belonging to a team, pride in representing the school and achievement in developing their skills Our children always shine when representing Libanus and we always receive such positive comments from the wider community You all represented us impeccably Well done to all pupils involved We are all very proud of you

We have also introduced Young Carer Ambassadors who lead sessions and raise awareness of young carers. I am incredibly pleased to announce that their maturity and conduct means they have been selected to be the first primary school in the borough to become a judging panel in assessing and awarding other schools with the care collect recognition plaques This is a huge honour and they should be very proud of themselves, as am I.

We have seen 10 students walk through our Libanus doors this year, many of which have asked to come back to see our pupils in the near future This is a testament to the supportive environment created by both staff and pupils. To all of our students, good luck with your future careers

Farewell Mrs Hickling

She has provided personalised support to many families over the years, has a wealth of knowledge for staff to draw upon and has recently set up an informative coffee morning for the parents of Young Carers. Supporting families as well as pupils is her passion and I am pleased to say she is pursuing this career and interest as she moves to Blackwood Comprehensive school to work with families within their community from September. Family And Community Engagement Days

The turn out to our FACE days have been overwhelmingly positive. Responses to the surveys illustrate 13% may like further FACE days arranged, whilst 87% indicate they would definitely like to see similar days being organised in the new academic year

A few attendees stated they would like even more notice for future events. In response to this feedback we are pleased to announce our offering of Family and Community Engagement days for the whole of the new academic year (2023/2024)

There maybe additional days added to the calendar as learning topics evolve. Staff work very hard to accommodate not only parent requests but also our pupil's requests, and this is a very fluid process that can evolve as learning themes progress and pupils use their 'pupil voice ' to guide their own learning and learning outcomes.
