Quality of Education Reviews Meeting on 4th December for Maths HoD and Line Managers On 4th December we will run a Quality of Education Reviews session for Maths HoDs and Maths Line Managers. This session will be a targeted CPD session around Quality of Education Reviews and will give those attending an understanding of what to expect during the inspection process. This will help to prepare colleagues thoroughly prior to the arrival of the team.

Quantitative chemistry, equilibria chemistry and structure & bonding Following the success of the CPD last year, St John Bosco are happy to confirm their continued partnership with the Royal Society of Chemistry. This year, they are offering the opportunity for Science teachers (of all specialisms) to attend a FREE three part programme focused on: Quantitative chemistry, equilibria chemistry and structure & bonding.

Newsletter—Edition 1 Winter 2015

This programme is a blended learning approach. The three face to face sessions will form one course delivered by experienced Teacher Developers through the Royal Society of Chemistry. It will also include access to the online Quantitative Chemistry course to support learning. Part of the training will take place in a computer suite to enable participants to get logged in and set up the on the RSC online courses. Practical elements being delivered in our “SuperLab”. Gap activities will be provided between sessions and time for reflection built in.

Places are limited to 20 and are available on a first come, first served basis by following the link above. Please be aware that it is not exam board specific, nor is it only open to Chemistry specialists.

Alternatives to A Level Courses 6th December 2019 Following a request from the Heads of Sixth Form, we have arranged an Alternatives to A Level Courses event that will take place 9.00am until 11.00am on 6th December at Holy Family Catholic High School, Virgin's Lane, Thornton, Liverpool L23 4UL. Pearson, AQA, Eduqas and OCR will attend and this event will allow colleagues to explore the curriculum alternatives to A level that will meet the needs of their students and give further balance across the curriculum.

Pearson's free international writing competition is encouraging 4-16 year-olds (taking in Key Stage 5 up to 19 years of age) to tear up the rule book and give their own 21st Century take on classic fairy tales, fables and regional folk stories.

This free competition empowers children and young people to put themselves at the heart of their own stories as they assert their modern-day stamp on classic tales and create their own stories to reflect their personal interests, background and experiences.

As well as accepting entries into the national competition, Pearson will also be separately judging and providing prizes (1 per key stage) for the Archdiocese of Liverpool Schools across Primary and Secondary.

Pastoral Leaders Training Programme for Heads of Year 12th December 2019 (Deadline to book 5th December) This year’s Pastoral Leaders Training Programme for Heads of Year Workshop will take place 9.00am until 3.10pm on Thursday 12th December at Archbishop Beck Catholic Sports College, 55 Long Lane, Liverpool L9 7BF.
