Newsletter Edition 1 Winter 2015

During the last two summer holidays, we have helped to deliver some very successful summer school programmes with partner schools. These have included Year 5 pupils developing their reading and maths skills before they start Year 6, Year 7 transition programmes with incoming Year 7 pupils working on English, maths and science at their new secondary schools and Year 10 pupils receiving some targeted tuition to get them ready for Year 11. We have greater flexibility with these programmes, so we do not have a prescribed number of desired tuition hours per pupil. We can also accommodate groups of up to six pupils per tuition group in this context.

At a time when school budgets are particularly challenging, we are offering a discount of 50% for all tuition in the summer holidays. Instead of the current standard hourly rate of tuition at £54, each hour of tuition will cost £27. If you apply your 60% NTP subsidy to this, the school will only pay £11 per hour: this is less that £4 per pupil per hour for a group of three pupils. For a group of six pupils, this is less than £2 per pupil per hour!

Don’t forget that next autumn term, the DfE will clawback any of your school’s unused National Tutoring Programme funding for this academic year so do make sure you make the most of your allocation!

Depending on your school’s needs and priorities, our tutors may in some cases be able to offer some wellbeing, creative or sporting activities to supplement the academic tuition.

Please find attached Tutor Trust’s summer school offer flyer.

Empowering Literacy Through Speech-to-Print: A Virtual Conference with over 35 Expert Sessions, for Educators Professionals, and Parents.

The Symposium is our online literacy conference, featuring more than 30 expert speakers, with decades of experience in literacy education, phonics, and more.

The aim is to share what works, including new approaches, discussions, and methods that are taking literacy education to a whole new level.

We last ran the Symposium back in 2021, and had over 15,000 people take part from all over the world, so we are extremely excited to be bringing it back for this second version.
