Welcome to our last newsletter of the year and my first as Headteacher.
I am immensely proud of our students’ achievements this term. Thank you to our staff who have made all of this possible, and to you as parents and carers for all of your wonderful support.
Karen Key – Headteacher
Goodbye to our Year 13 and Year 11 students!
On 10th May we said goodbye to our Year 13 students, who began their study leave. On 24th May we said goodbye to our Year 11 students, who have now finished their GCSE and Level 2 exams. We look forward to welcoming many students back in September as Sixth Formers. They have since celebrated in considerable style, at their Year 11 Prom and Sixth Form Valedictory Ball!
Good luck to all leavers and we wish you all the very best for your next steps.

Rewards
Our Star of the Week rewards initiative has run throughout the year and this term’s prizes will be presented to one lucky winner from each year group in the last week of term. Students with the most rewards points are entered into a ‘draw’ and the winning name is picked during the end of year assemblies. We’d like to extend a huge thank you to this year’s generous sponsors for providing such fantastic prizes:
Language Leaders
Congratulations to our Year 12 students for gaining their Language Leader Award. Isobel Ormerod-Jordan, Aurora Lee-Kilgraff and Kizzy Nyman gained the award for Spanish, and Suzannah Staples, Poppy Selby and Amy Rice were awarded for French.

The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award
This year has seen DofE return to normal numbers following the pandemic. The award starts at the beginning of the academic year when students apply for places. This year we had 74 students undertake Bronze, 25 at Silver and 9 at Gold. The highlight of each award is always the expeditions, which get tougher as they progress and really push the students to their limits of fitness, navigation and self-sufficiency. Well done to all involved!
Students taking part in the Duke of Edinburgh programme have contributed an incredible 633 hours of volunteered-time to businesses and organisations in the local community. Well done to all those involved for this amazing achievement.
Year 12 Biology Field Studies Trip
Dr Hughes and Mrs Riley took the Year 12 Biologists to the Blencthra Field Studies Centre in The Lake District to complete their A Level fieldwork. They were blessed with glorious sunshine!

This year’s Cheshire Studio School Football Academy team has reigned across all competitions, completing their trio of tournaments and winning every one! This marks the most successful season ever for The Cheshire Studio School Football Academy, winning The Northwest Colleges Sports League, The Cheshire County Cup and The International John Tally Showcase, in Memphis USA. Thank you to Luke from our sponsors ‘McHale and Co Solicitors’, for presenting them with their league winners medals. He also presented the ‘Players Player of the Year Award’ to Matty Waters and ‘Managers Player of the Year Award’ to Jack Higginbottom. What a fantastic season! Well done to the students!
Paris Sports Tour
Rugby
Year 9s attended an England touch rugby tournament and were unbeaten throughout the afternoon!
Here they are with Love Island winner Kai Fagan who kindly posed for a photo!
The Year 9 and Year 10 Football and Rugby Tour took place in Paris during May half term, with 47 students supported by six members of staff. The girls and boys football teams and boys’ rugby team attended tournaments and several fixtures against local sides including Villeneuve Academie FC, Pontault at Stade Pontellois, Evry FC, Viking Club Paris and Red Star Champigny. They also enjoyed sightseeing with a tour of PSG stadium, a daytrip to Disneyland and a visit to the Eiffel Tower.
All three teams received compliments throughout the tour on how well they conducted themselves so thank you to all players for being such a credit to the school.

Hospitality & Catering
The Food Department has been paired with the Clayton Hotel at Manchester Airport through the Schools and Hotels Manchester programme. Our Year 10 and 11 Hospitality and Catering students were lucky enough to be visited by the Head Chef and Sous Chef from the restaurant for a masterclass. They then paid a return visit to the hotel, had a Q&A with managers across the business, took part in team building activities and tried their hands at being baristas and mocktail makers!
Housing Jobs Fair 2023
