Attendance
The whole school attendance for this week is 96%, with Oak Class achieving 98.8%.
Highlights
Beech Class were visited by some twoweek old baby lambs this week. The children were able to bottle feed them which was a fabulous experience! Thank you to Mrs Fairbrother for organising it. Our Book Fair arrived! We get commission on any books sold so are looking forward to getting new books for our class libraries! Don’t forget to visit!
Book Character Day was amazing! We had some brilliant costumes! The children also had a family group session each looking at an Elmer story linked to our Christian Values, in preparation for the Elmer Blackpool Sculpture Trail next month.
Book Fair:
If you haven’t managed to visit yet, the Book Fair will be open on Monday and Tuesday next week from 3:30-4pm. We are really trying to advocate reading for pleasure so why not come and pick a book you can read with your child.
Big Sing:
On Tuesday, we have a group of the school choir going to the Big Sing event at Lowther Pavilion. They have been learning their songs and making props and I am sure it will be an amazing experience as they join with children from other schools, in Wyre and Fylde, to perform together. Please remember, pupils need to be in school for 8:30am and they need a disposable packed lunch.
Absence:
Please try to send your child into school as much as possible. Sometimes they can be reluctant to come to school or feel a little under the weather first thing in the morning but once they are in school, they often feel much better. Attendance figures have been hit quite hard by the awful bugs that have been going around over the past few weeks. Hopefully this will now improve as spring approaches!
Can I also reiterate that term-time holidays will not be authorised and may result in a penalty fine issued by the local authority.
Chocolate Easter Bingo
Fund-Raiser:
Pupils from Reception to Year 6 will have the opportunity to take part in a Chocolate Easter Bingo event in school on Monday 25th March or Tuesday 26th March in the afternoon. We have split the event over two afternoons so we can fit half the pupils at a time, in the hall, in their family groups.
Arrival at Sch
Just a reminder that p at school before 8:50a attending Breakfast Cl before 8:45am will be Club and parents will b session
You will be able to pay £3 for a book of bingo tickets which means they can play six games. This will open on Parent Pay from Monday 11th March.
When the children are not playing bingo, they will be taking part in Easter craft activities, also in family groups.
Easter Service:
Our whole school Easter Service will be held at St. Oswald’s Church at 9am on Tuesday 26th March. This will be for all pupils except those in Beech Class. Pupils should be dropped off at church unless they are in Breakfast Club. These pupils will walk to church with staff at 8:30am Parents are very welcome to join us. Each class will do a short presentation on a part of the Easter Service. Reverend Naomi Barraclough will be leading the service.
Extended Learning:
We would be really grateful if you could ensure your child completes at least some of their extended learning tasks this term and that you try to read with your child/children at home regularly through the week. I have already seen some fabulous pieces of work completed at home and look forward to seeing many more over the next few weeks.
Comic Relief:
We would like to support Comic Relief as they support a huge range of amazing projects, making a real difference to the lives of many groups and individuals.
On Friday 15th March, we would like pupils to wear something red and we will have a crazy hair competition – the crazier the better! There will be prizes for the best crazy hair style in each class
Please donate whatever you can to Comic Relief via our dedicated Just Giving page.

Spring Fair:
Our main school fund-raiser this year will be a Spring Fair to be held at school on Saturday 27th April from 2-4pm. There will be a range of stalls, games and activities as well as ‘afternoon tea style’ refreshments. We will also be hosting a Grand Raffle which will be drawn on the day. The event is open to anyone in the community.
We would be grateful if you could sell raffle tickets to family and friends to help us raise as much money as possible. (Books of tickets will be coming home with your child soon).
If you would like a craft stall or know anyone else who might, please get in touch. We will just ask for a small donation to school.
