To know that a compass is an instrument used for navigation and orientation.

American continent (today's United States and Canada).

There were hundreds of tribes throughout the United States when Columbus first arrived.

Many of them are well known such as the Cherokee, Apache, and the Navajo. Small tribes often made up part of larger tribes or communities and they largely lived in peace with each other.

Tribes would fight each other.

Know that a tepee were the homes of nomandic tribes in great plains.

Teepees were built using a number of long poles for the frames and they wrapped in a large covering made from buffalo hide.

Native Americans then moved onto long houses built by Native Americans in the Northeast.

Long houses were permanent homes.

Know that Native Americans were made up of different tribes.

Art (Textiles)  Shape and stitch materials.  Use basic cross-stitch and back stitch.  Colour fabric.  Create weavings.  Quilt, pad and gather fabric.
