How we Learn PSHE at Earith Primary School: Intent, Implementation & Impact Intent
To develop children’s knowledge, skills and attributes in order to keep themselves healthy, safe and prepared for life and work. To develop children’s ability to make sound decisions around health and wellbeing for themselves – and for others. To support children in their understanding of what a healthy, positive relationship is. To support the children’s development of empathy, resilience and self-esteem.
Above all, the intention of our PHSE curriculum is to deliver a curriculum which is accessible to all and that will maximise the outcomes for every child so that they know more, remember more and understand more. As a result of this, they will become healthy, independent and responsible members of a society and give them confidence to tackle many of the moral, social and cultural issues that are part of growing up. Our children are encouraged to develop their sense of self-worth by playing a positive role in contributing to school life and the wider community.
Implementation
Using the long term plan (put in place by PSHE coordinator), teachers to use the guidance and coverage from Cambs PSHE Service. This may be supplemented by Pixl and RSE Solutions. Teaching will fulfil all statutory duties and will plan and teach to the needs of our children and our community.
Children who need additional support are identified and additional PHSE work is undertaken. This can be 1-1 or small group work.
Opportunities for children to share worries, feelings and discussions at all times – the use of ‘talk’ boxes in classes.
