Happy School

Duke Street Primary School is an Outstandingly Happy School – and that’s official. But, of course, you already knew that.

Validation visits typically include a re-cap assembly delivered by a member of the Brilliant team. So too, in the case of Duke Street. However, with a simple caveat: only after witnessing one of their infamous ‘Good News’ Friday celebrations. A thing to behold, the assembly proved to be a collective celebration of what’s possible when enough good people determine to make amazing things happen. The children are recognised, valued and applauded. In short, they are celebrated for aspiring to be the very best version of themselves. ‘Good News’ assemblies are what happens when Tiswas meets Chorley. There’s no place children would rather be. Pupils are proud to be part of the Duke Street school community. What is readily apparent, is that the staff are equally so. You don’t have to look far for evidence that the school is Outstandingly Happy: it’s in the DNA of the place. From the minute you walk in, to the moment you leave, there is a tangible buzz about the place; I suspect if Duke Street opened for weekends, there would be a sizeable number of children clambering to attend (and probably a few teachers, too!).
