English: During this half term, we will continue to use our 'Escape from Pompeii' text as a stimulus for narrative writing, including writing a descriptive story opening. We will also explore a range of non-fiction text types and write for a range of different purposes, understanding how the language we use and the structure of our writing helps us to write for different purposes. The children will continue to practice and write using cursive script, focusing on how to form each letter accurately and consistently.
Geography:
This area of the curriculum is covered in Spring 1 & 2.
Maths: In math's this half term, we will be working on Addition & Subtraction we will work up from adding and subtracting 1, 10 and 100 up to 3-digit addition and subtraction questions. These mental methods will then be followed by more formal written methods. This will include column methods which will start without crossing the tens boundary and then it will move on to carrying across columns. We will also look at partitioning and number lines which include counting on and counting back.
Year 3 Autumn Half-term 2
History: In History we will be learning about the Romans and the Roman Empire, thinking about how they invaded Britain and the impact they have had on Britain. Boudica, Hadrian's Wall and what legacy did they leave us with.

Science: In our Science lessons, we will complete our unit of work on Animals including Humans. This will include looking at different types and amounts of nutrition and identifying that humans have skeletons and muscles for support, protection and movement.
PE: Working each week with WLSP and class teachers, the children will continue to take part in athletics lessons or gymnastics.
Music:
This half term the key element of music is tempo. Our unit is based around Abba and the song Mamma Mia. We will listen to many different Abba songs, sing them and begin to learn how to play the recorder.
DT: In our DT lessons we will be developing an electric museum display based on the Romans.

R.E:
In R.E we will be studying what Christians, Muslims and Hindus celebrate and the festivals associated with their religions. We will learn about the similarities and differences between them.
Year 3 Autumn Half-term 2
Spanish - Los animales/Animals: In Spanish lessons we will: Name and recognise up to 10 animals in Spanish and attempt to spell some of these nouns with their correct indefinite article.
Computing: This term we will continue to ensure that we work safely online. We will be programming using 'Scratch' and making sure that we can sequence commands to create a simple game.
PSHE: In P.S.H.E, will are focusing on relationships. Children will explore and understand a range of feelings and the importance of caring about other people, In order to understand healthy and unhealthy relationships.
