Don’t forget to follow us
There are no quiet terms in school, but this one does seem to have been particularly busy. As always, we have been presented with an overwhelming number of times when our children have radiated a love of life and learning as well as showing their ever-developing talent. Whether that be in a sporting setting, language festival, music and performing arts opportunities or generally in their conduct around school, the children have been exceptional. We would like to extend our thanks to you for all the support you have shown. This has been through your positive communication, attending Parents’ Evening, taking children to some of the after-school enrichment opportunities and helping prepare children for our evacuation and indoor safety procedures. Once again, your support with these things is invaluable and always appreciated.
After Easter, we have a number of lovely events we are looking forward to. Some of these include activities linked to raising money for the new playground and local charities. You will have received a sponsor form for the children’s run around the field and dance activity on the Friday we get back. We are hoping that by offering a sponsorship form our children will feel directly involved in raising money for this important project. All children will be involved in both events, even if sponsor forms are not returned. I will be running the marathon on the Sunday after the first week and will proudly wear the design of the winning t-shirt, from the competition we ran. The winner of this will be announced after the Easter holidays.
May I wish you all a really lovely Easter break and we look forward to seeing you after the holidays.
On the first week back after the Easter holidays, children from Nursery Buttercups through to Year 6 are to wear their school PE/Field kit on
Tuesday 22nd, Wednesday 23rd and Thursday 24th April, due to the sporting activities that we have planned on these days.
Also, on the Friday of that week (25th April), children in these year groups can then come into school in MUFTI clothes that are suitable for dancing. On the Friday, children will be taking part in the second sponsored event linked to raising money for the new playground and local charities, the dance-a-thon.

Churchtown Playgroup
Monday morning (term time only)
8.45am-10.30am
In our Monday morning playgroup, the children have enjoyed decorating biscuits. This was a very sticky and very tasty activity, which all the children absolutely loved.
This week, was our last session in school until after the Easter break. We will return on Monday 28th April at 8.45am in the Early Years Hall.
We would be grateful if you could take a few moments to complete our school parental questionnaire, if you have not already done so via Arbor: -

Many thanks.
Help us build a new playground in memory of Alice & Bebe.
This new playground, which has been proposed by Alice’s parents as a way of honouring her memory, will serve as a joyful, healing space for all our pupils. It will be a place where they can do what children do best – play, explore and grow.
Please donate what you can to help us create a playground that will carry their memories for years to come. We aim to raise £250,000, but we don’t want to stop there! Any additional funds will be distributed to local charities who are helping those affected by this tragedy.
In memory of Alice and Bebe, a number of staff members and friends of Churchtown Primary School are taking part in the London Marathon and the Blackpool Festival of Running in April 2025. Alice’s father, Sergio is also running the London Marathon, alongside our Headteacher, Mrs Payne. In addition, members of staff from across the Endeavour Learning Trust, which Churchtown Primary School is a part of, are also running in memory of Alice and Bebe.

This week, we would like to say a very big thank you to Funky Monkees who took part in a 12-hour danceathon to raise money for our Churchtown Playground fund as well as Elsie’s Story and their own dance school.
Over 60 children and adults took part, many of whom are from Churchtown Primary School. They worked incredibly hard and they did not give up! They are still collecting their sponsorship money until the 26th April, but they estimate the amount raised to be over £3,000.00!
A very big thank you to you all and well done!

Over the past six weeks, the KS2 Eco Club have been learning all about Biodiversity. They started by recording a video about Biodiversity
which was shared in assemblies. This was to raise awareness to all the children in school. From this, the children have made bird feeders, bird boxes and seed bombs, planted trees and carried out multiple litter picks on Southport Beach, Botanic Gardens and our school grounds. We raised £143 from book sales last year, which enabled us to buy 10 litter pickers and 3 hoops!
To end the club, the children designed and made a Bug Hotel. This will be used by all children in school to support them in their Science Curriculum about minibeasts and microhabitats. We would therefore like to thank Green Sefton, RSPB and Mr Doyle for their time and commitment in supporting our school. Eco club will continue with their journey in June with a Key Stage One club for Year 1 and 2 so watch this space…
