Easter Project Drama – Year 7 and 8 Task: Shoebox Set Design Research and Planning: You are going to choose your favourite play or musical and create a set for it- using an old shoebox! You could even choose a well-known fairy tale to base your set design on. You will design your set using an ‘end-on’ stage. Research your chosen play/ musical/ fairy-tale and consider the overall look you are trying to achieve with your set. For example; What kind of backdrop will you create? What colour scheme will you use? What props and furniture do you need to include?
Production: Think carefully about how you might create your design. Get creative- What other materials do you have to hand? What could you recycle? If you don’t have a shoebox handy, you could sketch or draw your set design- remember to add colour and label it, or you could design it on a computer.
Feeling a Little Bit Extra?! Choose two characters from your chosen play/ musical and design their costume and make-up. Maybe you could create the costume using clothing and material from around the house? Simply put this together and take a picture of it to add to your project. Feeling Super Extra?!
If you were going to create your own musical/ performance, what would it be about?
