Learning
We aim to provide a safe and happy learning environment, where children’s individual needs are met, and they have positive relationships with the adults caring for them.
The Nursery follows the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum.
The EYFS comprises of seven areas of Learning and Development:
Communication and Language
Physical Development
Personal, Social and Emotional Development
Literacy
Mathematics
Understanding of the World
Expressive Arts and Design
Children may work in groups with an adult or work on free choice child-initiated activities.
Planning and themes are based on observations of children and their interests, or seasonal events. Foundation stage staff have regular planning meetings.
Before starting Nursery, please encourage your child to:
Put on and take off their coat.
Use the toilet and flush it.
Wash and dry their hands.
Blow their nose.
Share and tidy away their toys.
All children are assigned a key person, who ensures the child’s learning and care meets their individual needs and supports their parents. If you have any concerns, please do not hesitate to speak to your child’s key person.

Learning Packs
Each week your child will bring home a pack containing a book, game or toy. Each pack contains a booklet for parent’s comments.
These will be enjoyable, fun activities which you can do with your child whilst also helping them to develop maths and literacy skills.
Attendance
If your child is unable to attend Nursery, please let us know why. Children should always be collected by an adult. A permission form must be signed by a parent to instruct us who is authorised to collect your child. If you need someone different to collect your child you must inform us, as we will not allow a child to go home with anybody who is not on the list.
Uniform
Children wear a gold T-shirt and jade sweatshirt, which are available from the uniform shop (details of which are on our website). Grey trousers or skirt. Green checked summer dress for girls. Stud earrings may be worn, but no other jewellery, for safety reasons.
Children play outdoors, so please make sure they wear appropriate shoes and coats for the weather –hats and sun cream should be worn on hot days, and Wellingtons and waterproof coats should be in school on rainy days.
Your child should have a spare set of clothes kept on their coat peg in case they need changing for any reason during the session.
Medical conditions
Please let us know of any medical conditions. Children with asthma should have an inhaler kept in Nursery.
Snacks
Fruit and milk will be provided for snack each day. They should bring a water bottle in. (Please put your child’s name on the bottle)
Please let us know if your child is allergic to any foods or follows a special diet for any other reason e.g. cultural preferences, as we participate in various tasting/food activities as part of our learning.
Children are provided with a toothbrush and clean their teeth after lunch each day.
We look forward to seeing you and your child at Nursery
