The 1960s

Good afternoon all, I hope you have all managed to have a restful week and have enjoyed the lovely weather we have been having.

The suggested home activities for the week beginning the 1st June are now on the school website. Similar to the week before half term, to access the White Rose Maths activities you will need to go to the school website (https://bridge.kent.sch.uk/school-life/coronavirus-covid-19/school-closurelearning-packs) to download them. Please note that the maths work teachers have set this week is 'Summer Term Week 4'.

There is a new art challenge set by Mrs Smith and Mrs Allen coming soon to the school website and Mr Miles and Laura will soon be posting new videos and challenges.

Find someone in your family who remembers the 1960s, can you interview or write them a letter asking them what life was like then?

Your challenge is to choose a European country to find out about. You could find out about the climate, foods eaten there, the currency or any special traditions that the country may have. Using this information you could make a leaflet or poster.

As an extra challenge you could choose one city in your chosen country and could compare this with a city in the United Kingdom.

DT and Computing In the 1960s many children’s TV programmes, such as Thunderbirds and the Clangers, main characters were puppets.

Your challenge is to create a puppet; this could be a sock puppet, hand puppet or if you wanted to challenge yourself further you could have a go at making a string puppet.

Using the puppet or puppets that you have made can you create a simple animated film? You may need to create some scenery or other props.

Music At the start of the decade saw the famous band the Beatles formed and you may already know some of their famous songs. Listen to a few of their songs. What did you like? What instruments could you hear? As an extra challenge can you make your own musical instrument? You may even be able to create your own band with your family!
