11th June 2020
Dear Parents/Carers, I am writing to update you all on the latest advice provided to schools this week from Public Health, Lancashire. The link to the advice can be found below: https://www.lancashire.gov.uk/news/details/?Id=PR20/0168 The advice is that the situation within the county is going to be reviewed, on a weekly basis, against the ability for local services to meet all 5 of the Government’s Measures. The current situation is that we are being advised NOT to re-open on 15th June for Nursery, Reception, Year 1 and Year 6 pupils as the R rate in the county is currently being assessed at 1.01. The earliest re-opening of school to more pupils will therefore now be 22nd June (but remains conditional on the weekly advice from Public Health). The 22nd June will mark 4 school weeks to go until the traditional summer holidays. I am currently working with the Senior Leadership team and teachers in revising the school plan and strategy whereby we can give EVERY child and family the chance to attend school (at least for some time before the summer), see their friends, their teachers and also for us to see you as parents again within that 4 week period. This would help us to close the academic year out (with things like Prize giving, End of Year Reports, Year 6 celebrations etc. taking place in some form) in as complete a way as is possible during these strange times. We could also use the time to help you all with looking forwards to the arrangements for September (new Reception class intake meetings, uniform orders etc.). I will write to you all with more details of this next week when we receive the advice from Public Health in Lancashire on Monday about whether we are able to re-open on the 22nd June. I hope you and your family are staying safe and look forward to when I can see you all again at school (hopefully soon!)
Yours sincerely
Mr McDonald
