Y2 Easter Activities

Hello Y2, I hope you’re enjoying spending time at home. I have been cleaning EVERYTHING in my house, I feel like Mrs Hinch (if you don’t know who she is, she’s known for cleaning her house LOTS). Arthur and I have been trying to do short bursts of school work and we are enjoying crafting together. One time of day we really enjoy is going on our daily walk, it is so quiet and peaceful and we are noticing things about where we live that we have never even noticed before. Our family have been having a weekly video call and my sister has been writing us a quiz. Mr Stubbs and I won our last one…woo! I have had a little disaster as my oven has broken so I am having to think outside the box for things to cook. What have you been up to? Maybe you could write a letter and tell me all about your favourite activities? I would love to hear all about what you have been up to.

Below I am going to include some Easter activities that you may want to give a go.

Materials Needed:       

tissue paper – variety of Spring colours white glue lolly stick craft knife scissors cross template (or just draw your own) helper

Salt Dough Easter Eggs  

1 cupful of plain flour (about 250g) half a cupful of table salt (about 125g)



half a cupful of water (about 125ml)

Method 1. Preheat the oven to its lowest setting and line a baking sheet with baking parchment.

2. Mix the flour and salt in a large bowl. Add the water and stir until it comes together into a ball.

3. Transfer the dough to a floured work surface and shape into your chosen model. You can roll it out and cut out shapes, numbers or letters using biscuit cutters, or make any kind of model you can think of. We made some fruit and veg shapes plus cupcakes for a teddy bear’s picnic.

4. Put your finished items on the lined baking sheet and bake for 3 hrs or until solid.

5. Leave to cool and then paint What you'll need:      

Paper cone cups or construction paper Additional construction paper in two colors Scissors White craft glue 2 wiggle eyes Craft paint or markers

If using cone cups, skip down to step number 2. If using construction paper, roll 2 pieces into cone shapes and glue or tape in place. Trim ends so that cones will stand freely on the table.

Take one cone and cut the pointed end off, about 2” from the tip.

Add some glue to the narrow end of the cone that you just cut. Insert the other cone; tip first, into the narrow end of the cut cone.

Cut two ears from construction paper, about 4” long. You may also cut two more narrow ears from another colored construction paper for the inner ear.

Glue the ears inside the top cone.

Cut a triangle nose and 6 thin strips for whiskers from construction paper.

Use wiggle eyes, nose, whiskers and a square of white paper for the teeth to decorate the rabbit’s face.

Cut a simple bow tie from construction paper and glue to the neck area, where the two cones meet.

Cut out a long oval (about 2.5” long) and cut it in half to create the bunny’s feet. Use marker or paint to add paw prints. Glue to the front of the bottom cone.

Cut a strip of construction paper for the arms, long enough to go around the cones. Glue to the back of the bunny and wrap them around each other in the front and glue in place.

Cut an Easter egg shape from a piece of construction paper, decorate it with markers or paint if you like. Glue behind the arms so that it looks like your bunny is carrying it.

Fill top of head with Easter grass and some jelly beans.

Theme: Easter Listen John 20: 1-9 Jesus’ Tomb Is Empty 20 Early on the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene went to the tomb. It was still dark. Mary saw that the large stone had been moved away from the tomb. 2 So Mary ran to Simon Peter and the other follower (the one Jesus loved). Mary said, “They have taken the Lord out of the tomb. We don’t know where they have put him.”

So Peter and the other follower

started for the tomb. 4 They were both running, but the other follower ran faster than Peter. So the other follower reached the tomb first. 5 He bent down and looked in. He saw the strips of linen cloth lying there, but he did not go in. 6 Then following him came Simon Peter. He went into the tomb and saw the strips of linen lying there. 7 He also saw the cloth that had been around Jesus’ head. The cloth was folded up and laid in a different place from the strips of linen. 8 Then the other follower, who had reached the tomb first, also went in. He saw and believed. 9 (These followers did not yet understand from the Scriptures that Jesus must rise from death.)
