Home Learning Pack for Year 1 Week 4 Hope you are all safe and well and enjoying your Home Learning activities.

If you did not access week 3activities, don’t worry they are still available. I have been trying to put together a wide range of learning opportunities based on books that you can just dip into or work through in your own time. Please don’t feel that you need to complete everything, these are intended to be guides for Home Learning.

Stay health, stay happy and try to introduce some of the activities into your daily routine.

Mrs Melling NB: All Targets are linked to Y1 Spring and Summer term expectations and can be adapted for all children to work at their own pace. The activities may also be used with younger or older children, perhaps to work together.

Maths White Rose Home learning (Summer term week 2) These units practise the skills we have been looking at in the spring term and support work in the Summer term.

Additional idea: Create a Tuck Shop and use your maths ideas to create problems.

Buy one get one free (doubles) make sets of sweets/crisps 5p 10p bags (groups) and biscuits/fruit/crisp for half (find half/quarter make half/quarter eg use raisins or crisps and split a packet into half/quarter to share)

This week we are focusing on information, the links above will show information and videos about rabbits. This gives you the opportunity to ask questions and share ideas about rabbits.

Where? What? How? Why? Eg. Can we find difference between wild and pet rabbits? Spend the week gathering interesting facts and recording them. Make an information book, a rabbit shaped book, make a power point about rabbits (depending on your skills) Enjoy talking about and sharing ideas as you draw rabbits, colour rabbits make model rabbits, puppets or using soft toy rabbits.

Children could also find out about looking after a pet rabbit. https://www.bbc.co.uk/cbeebies/shows/my-pet-and-me Meet Ferne and Rory and discover what it really means to have a pet. Play the game and look after your own pet, sing along with nursery rhymes and watch clips .

Daily Phonics Work on phonics skills using games and reading

Targets  Phase 4 (review)- phase 5 phonics (practise)  Tricky words  Focus sounds this week include: ay ou ie ea.

Activities Try to do some phonics/spelling each day.

Choose from a selection of phonic games from phonics play. Based on tricky words Watch video clips Mr Thorne does phonics Mr T’s Phonics You Tube (This includes internet safety message) Continue to work through flashcards, digraphs and trigraphs. Check list in reading Record book.

Why not create your own reading den at home, make it cosy with toys and cushions and read for pleasure.

The function of each is explained through scientific enquiry and comedy, to give pupils a full overview.

You could get children to draw a diagram of a plant and label the different parts.

Alternatively, you could print off pictures of different plants and get them to label the parts - e.g. roots, stem/trunk, leaves, flowers etc. They could include a short description of the function each part plays.

As last week encourage children to identify the plants growing in your garden or on their daily walk. Take photographs and list the things you see.

Make a collection of leaves on your journey or in the garden, perhaps collect them on a headband with sticky tape and when you return draw them, print with them and find out which plant/tree they come from. (Adult supervision advised and remember to wash hands!)

This week I would like the children to experience some games that parents played when they were little. If parents have photographs of when they were a child this could be a great opportunity to talk about the past.

Can children create a favourite character using a cardboard tube?

There are lots of examples online of making superhero’s, perhaps you can make your own NHS or Key Worker superheroes to display in your window?
