Friday 15th June Wednesday Word – God's World Twitter - @saintoswalds THIS WEEK – During our Come and See sessions we have been learning about Jesus' rule for everyone and recording this in our books. The children have also worked together to create a friendship ring candle holder for our collective worship table. Within Literacy, we used the story of Rockpool Rap again and have been writing a list of creatures that live in the rockpool. The children have also been writing about what they could see the chicks doing. In Maths, we have been continuing with our topic on counting on to find the missing number in an addition number sentence, using number lines to find the missing number. During the afternoon, the children have been making their Fathers’ day cards and we have been continuing with our end of year CEM assessments. This week four of our eggs hatched and the children have had the opportunity to get close to the chicks and watch them in their brooder. The children have made a record of what they could see the chicks doing in the brooder. During our phonics sessions we have focussed on Mrs Gill’s and Mrs Hart’s group – phase 4 phonics where they have been reading and writing ccvc and cvcc words. We have recapped sounds from phase 3. Introduced to the words one and out Mrs Riding’s and Mrs Ryan’s group – phase 4 phonics where they have been reading and writing ccvc and cvcc words and the words – when and what Miss Woolley’s group – recapping or and have been introduced to oi. They have been learning her. NEXT WEEK – During our Come and See sessions we will be responding to all that we have learned during our topic of friends and working as a class to write our end of topic celebration. Within Literacy, we will be looking at poems related to the beach. We will be writing our own beach senses poem. In Maths, we will be completing our post-learning task for missing number and conducting our pre-learning task for our next topic. During the afternoon, the children will be designing a sun visor and starting to make our garden products for our summer fair. We will also be continuing with our end of year CEM assessments. During our phonics sessions we will be focussing on – Mrs Gill’s and Mrs Hart’s group – continuing with phase 4 and will be introducing when and what Mrs Riding’s and Mrs Ryan’s group - will be continuing with phase 4 and recapping all the phase 4 words Miss Woolley’s group – will recap oi and be introduced to ow and will be recapping all phase 3 words learned so far and looking at the words my. WEEKLY CHALLENGE – Thank you for working with the children to answer the questions about the school year. This week we are asking the children to complete the missing number addition sheet. SUMMER FAIR -We are asking for your help. If any parents have any spare flower seeds at home and would be willing to donate them to us to help us with our Summer Fair project we would be very grateful. We are also asking for any empty plastic pop bottles, big or small. Thank you for your donations.
