How to support your child’s learning at home To help your child further in their education, they must be doing the following activities at home. 

They must read for 10 minutes each night to an adult. The adult must then fill in their reading journal. Practice times tables. By the end of year 3 your child should know their 2, 3, 4, 5, 8 and 10 times tables off by heart. Encourage your child to tell the time using digital and analogue clocks at every opportunity.

If you need to speak directly to the class teacher please go to the main office to arrange this or find us in the playground after school. We politely ask that you do not come into school with your child in the morning to do this.

Make sure you know your targets and are constantly striving to achieve them.

Homework Each week children are given reading, spelling, vocabulary and timetables practise. Reading should be 10 minutes daily including questioning. Timetables should be 5 minutes a day. In addition children will have the choice of a variety of activities related to the learning going on in class. They should complete at least 2 projects over the half term. It must be completed to an acceptable standard which means that it must be at least as good as the work children produce in class, and all tasks must be completed in pencil.

Mr Heseldon runs a drop in homework club on Monday and Tuesday lunchtimes for children who would like some help with their work. We have super new journals full of helpful tips to support work at home. Please ensure that journals are signed and handed in each week.
