Lomeshaye Life What a fantastic start we have made to the final half term at school. The children have all come back ready to do some great learning and this week has already been exciting with trips out of school and special visitors, read on to find out more... We have had an excellent week with our attendance. This week all classes met the school target leading us to a whole school attendance of 96.4%. Also this week 5 Cedar and 5 Larch classes have obtained 100% attendance which is outstanding! This is great news and a fantastic achievement, lets see if we can keep it up next week too! Year 5 Trip to the Zoo— On Wednesday all of the children in Year 5 made a visit to Blackpool Zoo. There visit was to help them with learning that they have done in Science relating to living things and their habitats. The children had a wonderful time seeing the animals and learning about how the animals are cared for and what their natural environment is like from the zookeepers. I was also very impressed to hear that the behaviour of all of the Year 5 pupils was outstanding throughout the day. Charity Work—During Celebration Assembly this morning we had a special visit from our old Headteacher Mrs Pleasants and her friend Mrs Bown from the Howarth Rotary Club. The ladies came to see us to be presented with a cheque for £1000 to be donated to a charity that we have supported with them called School in a Bag. At last years summer fair we raised so much money that we were able to make this generous donation which will help 50 children in the Ivory Coast to be able to go to school. Well done Lomeshaye! MP Andrew Stephenson Visits— On Friday morning MP Andrew Stephenson came to visit us to meet with the Pupil Leadership Team who have recently designed a new garden for our school. Mr Stephenson came to look at the plans that the children had created and to also view the work that has started on creating our fantastic new garden. The children were all eager to meet him and he said that our garden was the most exciting that he had ever seen, especially as the children had done all the design work themselves. Rights Respecting Schools— During this week the right that we have been focusing on has been Article 9— You have the right to live with your parents unless it is harmful. If you want to find out more about our Rights Respecting Schools work ask your children or have a chat with Mr. Switzer. Pupil Parliament—Aatiqah (6R) and Saif (5L) attended a Pendle Pupil Parliament meeting this week. They met Sarah Parsons from Whitehough Outdoor Education Centre who attended the meeting to explain about all the new activities that will be on offer at Whitehough and a recent visit that they had from the Princes Trust . The information was very interesting and we look forward to visiting the centre soon to explore all the new outdoor activities that will be on offer. Mon 11th—Year 5 Greek Dress Up Day Wed 13th— Year 3 Park Visits Eid will take place at some point this week.
