Spring 2 Information
Dear Parents / Carers, Welcome back after the half term holiday. We hope you and your families enjoyed the break. We hope Spring will soon be in the air as we start the Lenten half term leading to Easter. We hope you find the following information useful for the forthcoming half term. Curriculum: English: We will be working on ‘Stories from Fantasy Settings’. Using our writing skills we will be exploring lots of different stories within the fantasy genre, investigating the settings, characters and much more! Reading: We are now settling in to using our new whole school reading scheme for Guided Reading. The children are thoroughly enjoying the range of activities
and
opportunities
to
practise
their
phonics
and
compreshension skills! Please keep up the 10-20 minutes of reading or phonics/tricky word activites at home with your child. These will be beneficial for their development and the Year 1 Phonics Check that takes place later in the year. Maths: We will be working with numbers up to 100 and we will be learning to recognise length and height. We will be continuing our work on our addition and subtraction skills, practising using the methods we have learnt. Please practise with your child counting forwards and backwards, odd and even numbers and counting in 2’s, 5’s and 10’s.
