Lomeshaye Life Another week has passed at Lomeshaye and lots has been going on in school again. This week has seen Bikeability continuing for Year 5 pupils and children in Years 3 and 4 visiting Seedhill to develop their athletics’ skills. This week our attendance is 98.1% for the whole school. This is wonderful news. We also have two classes that achieved 100% attendance this week, 6 Rowan and 4 Sycamore. Well done and thank you for getting to school every day, I hope this continues next week too. Attendance Raffle Winners— We drew our attendance raffle this morning to find out the winner of our monthly attendance prize. This time our winners were Esha Naveed from 4 Sycamore and Noor Ul Shazad in 6 Rowan. Both girls will now be able to enjoy a fantastic trip to the cinema with their families. Rights Respecting Schools— as you will be aware we are on the journey to becoming a Rights Respecting School. This means that children in school will be learning about the different rights that they and other children have which are detailed in the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child. Our pupils have been learning about different rights in their classes and there are now Rights Champions in each class who meet regularly with Mr. Switzer to discuss our progress in becoming a Rights Respecting School. Last week the children met with our governor, Mrs. Bhatti, to update her on what we have been doing in school and they have agreed that each week we will include one of the children’s rights in our newsletter. Two very important aspects of children’s rights are that they are UNIVERSAL, this means that these are the rights of every child and that they are UNCONDITIONAL, meaning that no matter what children will always have these rights. This week the right that we are focusing on is Article 2—No child should be treated unfairly on any basis. If you want to find out more about our Rights Respecting Schools work ask your children or have a chat with Mr. Switzer. Wed 2nd May—Year 4 Arithmetic Workshop 11.15-12.15 Thurs 3rd May—Artist, Edward Foster, working with Year 4 pupils Thurs & Fri (3rd/4th May)— afternoons, 6 Rowan Parents Evening.
