Friday 28th March Wednesday Word – EASTER Twitter - @saintoswalds THIS WEEK – During our Come and See sessions we have completed our formal assessment about Lent and Easter to see what the children have learned. Within Literacy, we have listened to poems about Easter and have found out information about Easter and why and how we celebrate it. In Maths, we have completed our post-learning task related to money and have completed our pre-learning task on ordering numbers to 20. During the afternoon sessions, we have participated in a variety of Easter activities and have joined in with our whole school assemblies for Palm Sunday and Easter. The children also enjoyed taking part in our Easter Raffle. During our phonics sessions we have focussed on Mrs Gill’s and Mrs Hart’s group – recapping all the sounds and words that we have covered so far and completing our phonics assessments Miss Woolley’s group – recapping all the sounds and words that we have covered so far and completing our phonics assessments Mrs Ryan’s and Mrs Riding’s groups – recapping all the sounds and words that we have covered so far and completing our phonics assessments NEXT TERM– During our Come and See sessions we will be starting our new topic GOOD NEWS and will be starting our overall topic of What will we find in the jungle? We will be starting the topic with the book Walking through the Jungle. We will be beginning our new maths topic of ordering numbers to 20 forwards and backwards and will be talking about what we have done over the Easter holidays. WEEKLY CHALLENGE – Thank you for all the decorated eggs they were beautiful with lots of different designs. There will be no weekly challenge over the holidays. We would like the children to enjoy the Easter holidays and think about the true meaning of Easter. GOOD SHEPHERD RAFFLE – Thank you for all your prize donations. The raffle was held on Tuesday afternoon. We would not be able to hold these special events without your support. CREATIVE CLUB – A letter has been sent home to the children who will be attending Block 2 sessions of Creative Club next term. If your child does not wish to attend anymore please inform Mrs Gill. DRESS FOR NEW LIFE DAY – Thank you for all your donations. Don’t forget to look at Flickr to see any photographs of our dress for new life day. READING OVER THE HOLIDAY – As well as reading books please help your child to practise reading these words and if possible help them to practise writing them.
