OSWALD’S MISSION STATEMENT LOVE JESUS LOVE LEARNING LOVE EACH OTHER “We are a learning community promoting the Gospel values of mutual trust, care and respect” NEWSLETTER WEEK ENDING 23rd MARCH 2018 WEDNESDAY WORD – PRAISE CLASS 2 - assembly took place this morning. The theme was Change. Well done to all the children and thank you to all our visitors. SPORTS RELIEF - saw a huge variety of sports kits worn by the children - see photos on the website and twitter. Thank you for your donations - we raised £205.37. RAFFLE - Please keep sending in raffle prizes - these tickets are being sold daily to children for 10p. We are holding the raffle on Tuesday afternoon. EASTER GARDENS - thank you and well done to all pupils who have made an Easter garden - they are spectacular! They have been displayed in school all week and will be taken over to Church on Monday to be displayed there. LET’S SING - Our Year 3 pupils took part in a singing extravaganza at Robin Park on Wednesday evening. They performed many songs, including one in French, finishing with a great rendition of All Over the World! Well done to all the children and staff for putting on such a super concert. ST EDMUND ARROWSMITH MUSIC FESTIVAL - well done to Rose McConnell and Louis Williams who took part in this festival during this week. Louis played James Bond theme on the trumpet and Rose played Waltz in A and Tarantella on the piano. GREATER MANCHESTER MINI-GAMES - congratulations to Mischa Abbott, Ava Earley, Sakura Wilson, Adam Towns and Ryan Ratcliffe who represented Wigan in Gymnastics at the Greater Manchester Mini Games at the Etihad on Tuesday. They were fantastic and had an amazing day. They met Beth Tweddle. Pictures are on the website, twitter and flickr. YEAR 2 TRIP - pupils visited the Museum of Liverpool and the Beatles Museum yesterday. They had a wonderful day learning about Liverpool. They listened to and danced to music by the Beatles. The children were very excited to go into the yellow submarine and enjoyed trying on clothes from the 60s! YEAR 5/6 FRACTIONS, DECIMALS AND PERCENTAGES WORKSHOP - thank you to all the parents who attended. The presentation will be available shortly on the website for those who couldn’t attend. CLASSES 7 AND 8 TRIP - the pupils enjoyed a great day out in Chester. They attended a Roman workshop and marched through Chester as Roman soldiers - they surprised a number of members of the public! COMMUNION DRESSES - For information - there are 2 dresses in the shop at the back of church that can be purchased for a donation. WEDNESDAY 28th MARCH - Children can come to school dressed in yellow and/or green to celebrate New Life. School closes for the Easter break at 3.30pm and re-opens on THURSDAY 12th APRIL at 8.50am prompt. GOODBYE AND GOOD LUCK - To Mrs Jennie Jones who is leaving us today after being a Teaching Assistant and Lunchtime assistant for several years. She is embarking on a new career. We wish her the best. Pupils from Class 4 presented her with flowers today.
