Friday 16th March Wednesday Word – FOLLOW Twitter - @saintoswalds THIS WEEK – During our Come and See sessions we have continued the GROWING topic where we have been thinking about how we can grow to be more like Jesus during Lent. We are going to try to share more, care more and help each other more. Within Literacy, we have listened to the story of the Bad Tempered Ladybird and have created our own story maps. In Maths, we have recapped the value of coins, have used 1p coins to buy items from a class shop and have been adding 2 amounts together and paying for these using the 1p coins. During the afternoon sessions, we have been finding out about the lifecycles of plants, butterflies and frogs. Using the information we had found we created our own mobiles to show our new knowledge. During our phonics sessions we will be focussing on: Mrs Gill’s and Mrs Hart’s group – oa and igh and the word you and look recapping he, me, be, we, she, see, was, they, all. Miss Woolley’s group – have been recapping all phase 2 sounds and using these words to build and write words. They have gone over previously learned word and been introduced to the new sound ‘sh.’ Mrs Ryan’s and Mrs Riding’s groups – oa, igh and the word come and like recapping he, me, be, we, she, see, was, they and all. NEXT WEEK– During our Come and See sessions we will be recapping on how we can be more like Jesus during this special time of Lent. Within Literacy, we will be listening to poems about Spring and finding information out about the season. In Maths, we will be adding coins together to find out how much we have to pay and then moving onto giving change. During the afternoon sessions, we will be creating our own Spring pictures using a variety of different media. During our phonics sessions we will be focussing on Mrs Gill’s and Mrs Hart’s group – oa , igh and the word my and you recapping he, me, be, we, she, see, was, they, all, are and look Miss Woolley’s group – th and ng and will go over previously learned words and introduce she Mrs Ryan’s and Mrs Riding’s groups – oa, igh and the word my and you recapping he, me, be, we, she, see, was, they, all, are and look. WEEKLY CHALLENGE – Please can you help your child to find facts about Spring. This can be recorded using pictures or writing about the season. GOOD SHEPHERD – Next week is Class 5's turn to sell cakes. Cakes will be sold at 10p each. Some children still have money left from this week, but if you wish your child to buy a cake in the afternoon each day then please send 10p to school on that day. EASTER RAFFLE – At the end of the term we hold an Easter Raffle for the children. We are asking for small donations of Easter Eggs and Easter chocolates for Prizes. If you are happy to donate a prize, please send into school so that we can send them to the office ready for the Raffle day. Raffle tickets will be on sale for 10p a ticket. Please send in any money in the blue envelopes. Thank you.
