Friday 9th March Wednesday Word – SELF-GIVING Twitter - @saintoswalds THIS WEEK – During our Come and See sessions we have started our new topic on GROWING where we have planted some seeds and talked about what the seeds need to grow. Within Literacy, we have listened to the story of the Hungry Caterpillar and have written extended sentences about the story. In Maths, we have recapped the value of coins and have used 1p coins to buy items from a class shop. During the afternoon sessions, we have been practising our Mother’s day assembly. The children have also been looking at the question are all baby animals the same as their adult animal and have been learning about the life cycle of some of these animals. During our phonics sessions we will be focussing on Mrs Gill’s and Mrs Hart’s group – ee , oo and the word are and look recapping he, me, be, we, she, see, was, they, all. Miss Woolley’s group – have been recapping all phase 2 sounds and using these words to build and write words. They have gone over previously learned words. Mrs Ryan’s and Mrs Riding’s groups – ee, oo and the word are and look recapping he, me, be, we, she, see, was, they and all. NEXT WEEK– During our Come and See sessions we will be looking at and talking about Lent and how we can be more like Jesus during this special time. Within Literacy, we will be listening to the story of The Bad Tempered Ladybird and creating our own story map of the story. In Maths, we will be continuing to use 1p coins to buy items from a class shop and adding coins together to find out how much we have in our piggy bank. During the afternoon sessions, we will be looking for Minibeasts in our outdoor areas around school and creating models of our favourite minibeast. We will be continuing with lifecycles of animals and plants. During our phonics sessions we will be focussing on Mrs Gill’s and Mrs Hart’s group – oa , igh and the word my and you recapping he, me, be, we, she, see, was, they, all, are and look Miss Woolley’s group – th and ng and will go over previously learned words and introduce she Mrs Ryan’s and Mrs Riding’s groups – oa, igh and the word my and you recapping he, me, be, we, she, see, was, they, all, are and look. WEEKLY CHALLENGE – Thank you for helping the children to learn their words for the Assembly. This week we are sending home some more handwriting for the children to complete. INSPIRE SESSIONS FOR THE SPRING TERM – Next week we will be holding our final INSPIRE session where you will be able to come into school and work with your child on a variety of different activities. We hope that you or a representative can attend this session. Understanding the World Inspire – Thursday 15th March – Class 1G 9am – 11.20am Class 1K – 1.10pm -3.30pm GOOD SHEPHERD – Next week is Class 3’s turn to sell cakes. Cakes will be sold at 10p each. Some children still have money left from this week, but if you wish your child to buy a cake in the afternoon each day then please send 10p to school on that day.
